JLab Epic Air Sport Review

JLab Epic Air Sport Review – Final words

JLab Epic Air Sport review: Great for those who like bass-heavy wireless sport earbuds, very long-life battery, and the price is not too expensive ($70 – $100 depending on the promotion period). The JLab Epic Air Sport is one of the perfect choices. Besides, IP68 waterproof rating, means the Epic Air Sport can endure the most sweating period. But not recommended for swimming.

JLab Epic Air Sport Review – Design and build quality

JLab Epic Air Sport Review

The outward design of the earbuds should be familiar to most listeners. The ear hook and angled ear tips remind us of the Anker Soundcore Sport X10. The angled ear tips are a little wider than most of the market, and we found prolonged use over 3hrs could prove a little uncomfortable when using the silicon ear tips that came attached.

Luckily, JLab has been very kind enough to include multiple options when it comes to ear tips. Seven different options, on offer, are one pair of double-layered ear tips, one pair of triple-layered ear tips, 4 sizes of silicone tips, and our favorite ultra-comfy pair of foam ear tips.

Fabricated from top-quality rubber and plastic, we never got the feeling that JLab Epic Air Sport buds were at all flimsy. The new and very improved touch sensors make it simple than ever to take control while on the move. You’re given the option to change the volume with a tap, and pause or play with a double tap on the right.

How about the comfort that JLab Epic Air Sport offers?

True wireless earbuds for sports under $100

Like the JLab Audio Epic Air Elite Buds, the JLab Epic Air Sport buds are pretty comfortable. That is not always the case when it comes to in-ear buds – so it is good to see that these are relatively comfortable. Part of the comfort level of these earbuds is due to the fact that they have an ear hook type design which helps keep them strongly in your ears. During ultra-heavy movement they might start slipping every now and then, we found that the buds were generally nice at staying out – even during sports.

JLab Epic Air Sport Review – Sound and Performance

JLab Epic Air Sport ANC - True Wireless Earbuds for working out

The JLab Epic Air Sport is a bass lover’s dream! That is not to say the soundscape is unbalanced, not at all. And if you find a mode Bass Boost slightly overpowering, we recommend switching to the balanced mode. In Epic Air Sport this is the mode we trusted most often while listening to music.

It definitely softened the bass performance, while also little boosting the mid from normal operation. For podcasts and audiobooks, I found that signature mode sound very best. The Be Aware mode is also useful, as it combines the ambient sound around you with every playback. We turned this mode on when we want to a running, and the balanced that the earbuds found among the playback and ambient sound were amazing.

The clear, balanced, warm sound that these JLab Epic Air Sport emit is thanks to a pair of eight-millimeter drivers and these are controlled by the crystal clear clarity technology.

How about battery performance?

best long life playtime wireless earbuds

When we say JLab Epic Air Sport earbuds have the best battery life on the market, we are not kidding. JLab advertises a 10hrs battery performance, but in our testing, we regularly beat the number! At full volume, they were able to squeeze out an average of 7hrs and 50 minutes, but at 60 percent volume, that number swelled to 11hrs and 5 minutes!

That increases the playback time to a ridiculous 60hrs. This efficiently gave us about 7-8 days between charges.

Connectivity and waterproofing

Setup is fast and easy, just how we like it. Simply open the case and remove the bud, click the paring button, and connect.  Bluetooth 5.0 is used, which is in the line with a few other leaders in the class. This system gave us about 32ft of reach before getting experience distortion and with the addition of multiple codec support, there were no latency problems.

The JLab Epic Air Sport earbud comes with IP66 water resistance, which doesn’t mean that they can be dunked into water, but it does mean they can handle any day-to-day splashes. Ideal for training!
