Beats Flex Wireless Earbuds Review – Short words

Beats Flex Wireless earbuds review: Ideal for everyday use due to soft-touch plastic and lightweight (18.6 grams). Very comfortable with providing battery life of around 8 – 12 hours (depending on volume level). The magnetic earbuds with auto play/pause are an amazing feature of the Beats Flex. The sound quality is decent good. They are also compatible with Apple and Android phones.

Beats Flex Wireless Earbuds

wired-wireless in-ear, battery life: up to 12 hours, fast charge: 10 minutes get 1.5 hours, built-in mic, in-line control, magnetic earbuds with auto-play/auto-pause, customized fit (four ear tip options), Class 1 Bluetooth

The Beats Flex wireless are neck-cable in-ear headphones and they are also colorful and budget-friendly. These earbuds are wired-wireless headphones that are quite cheap but come with cool features that some more expensive wireless earbuds don’t have. They have a simple design, are lightweight, and are comfortable. They are powered by the Apple W1 chip which makes them easy and seamless connection. Let’s go into the detail of the Beats Flex Wireless earbuds review to find out why I choose these affordable wireless earbuds.

Beats Flex Wireless Earbuds Review – The Design

Simple design with neck cable. The Beats Flex is wired-wireless in-ear headphones with built-in control in-line. The neckband cable makes the Beats Flex wireless earbuds look sleek and so sporty. Although they don’t have ear-hooks like Beat Powerbeats 4 wireless, still secure fit, and are comfortable with four different sizes of ear tips provided in the box. They are available in colorful: smoke grey, black, yellow, and flame blue.

Personally, the amazing design is there is a magnet on the rear of both left and right earbuds that when you adjoin both earbuds together, the music will automatically pause. And when you separate both earbuds and put them in the ear again, the music will immediately automatic resume. So when you can leave the buds dangling around your neck when don’t use them and without worrying about dropping and disappearing the buds.

Durable

Although the mostly materials are plastic, they have good built quality and also feel durable even though you accidentally drop them. Unfortunately, the Beats Flex wireless earbud doesn’t have an IP rating for water and dust resistance. But I still can wear them to play gym without any damage (I’m a person who sweats quite a bit).

Comfortable Fit

Besides, they are budget-friendly wireless earbuds, the Beats Flex are designed to be lightweight and give a few different sizes of silicone tips. That lets you find the best fit for your ears. The good fit of the tips gives the best noise isolation and optimizes sound quality too.

Beats by Dr. Dre Flex Wireless In-Ear Headphones – The controls

The Beats Flex wireless earbuds are in-line control design that is nothing new. The multi-function control button is placed on the left side while on the right side is a power button. However; I feel that the control function is quite not intuitive, does not make sense, and also most functions are not very clicky.

How to control function?

Left side:

Multi-Function button

  • Press one – Plays and pause music/Answer and ends a call
  • Double press – Forward to the next track
  • Triple press – Backward to the previous track
  • Press and hold – Activates voice assistant/Rejects an incoming call
  • Double press and hold: Scans forward through a track
  • Triple press and hold: Scans backward through a track

Right Side:

  • Press and hold: turns on/off the earbuds
  • Press upper: Increase the volume level
  • Press lower: Decrease the volume level

Battery Life

According to the reference to the specification, the Beats Flex provides 12 hours of battery life. It’s true if you use a medium volume level (at around 50% of the max). Surely if you listen to music louder the playtime is less.

The fast charge of the Beats Flex wireless earbuds does as spec. They can give up to 1.5 hours for charging for only 10 minutes. Thank the neckband house a USB-C input, which you can use the cable that charges Android smartphones or laptops instead as well.

Beats Flex Wireless Earbuds Review – The Sound Quality

The sound quality of the Beats Flex is quite good, especially for those who love the bass sound. These affordable neckband wireless earbuds give more bass than AirPods. The Beats Flex delivers a bass-heavy sound profile that is favorite for rocker or hip-hop genres. The high and mids are clear and crisp but not too harsh or too bright. The Beats Flex is quite cheap in-ear headphones, so can’t beat some more expensive ones like Beat Studio Buds or Sony WF-1000XM4.

The Call Quality

They are a built-in microphone with wind reduction technology that gives the call quality clarity. But for my testing, the call quality is quite moderate, not so good, and not so bad. I can still hear and understand what the interlocutor said. But there was some noise, especially low-end sounds like the rumbling bus or plane engines. So choosing the perfect fit ear tips is very important to seal the ambient sound. Even though I select the one a good seal and perfect fit for my ears, the low-end sound that I mentioned still can a bit creep into the ear.

Beats Flex Wireless Earbuds Review – Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Budget-Friendly
  • Automatic play and pause
  • Comfortable fit with 4 different sizes of tips included
  • Bass-heavy sound profile
  • Good decent sound quality

Cons

  • Mediocre mic quality
  • No IP rating for sweat and dust proof but it can against sweat

Beats Flex Review – Final Verdict

At the end of the Beats Flex wireless earbuds review, they are quite affordable, lightweight, and comfortable fit. But the design is neck-cable style pair of earbuds that you can be hanging around the neck when not used. The sound quality is decent for their price, magnetic earbuds with auto-play/pause, good battery life, and a fast charge feature. Should recommend it? that depends on you. If you need more sound quality and true wireless, look to the Jabra Elite 7 Pro or Raycon Fitness, both are truly wireless earbuds
