OnePlus Buds Z review – Cheap True Wireless Earbuds

OnePlus Buds Z Review – Short words

OnePlus Buds Z Review: The outstanding pros is the cheap price. The sound quality is quite good and decent for its price. Very comfortable and lightweight. They are good enough battery life, around 5 hours for a single charge and up to 20 hours including the charging case. IP55 rating is enough to resist sweat for exercise or running and also can protect from rain. The OnePlus Bud Z still also comes with ear detection and fast charging as well. All in all these cheap wireless earbuds are good and worth their price.

OnePlus Buds Z

True wireless earbuds, IP55 rating, playtime: 5 hours (single charge)/ 20 hours (with charging case), Fast charging (10 minutes get 3 hours), bass boost, compact design & lightweight, secure fit, ear detection

One of the cheap wireless earbuds packed with great features and good decent sound quality is the OnePlus Buds Z true wireless earbuds. The first price on the release date is $50, but now there are many stores that have reduced the price quite a bit, including Amazon too. The OnePlus Buds Z is quite popular and have a ton of good review. It’s very comfortable for a long listening session and lightweight too. OK, let’s go through the detail of the OnePlus Buds Z review now.

OnePlus Buds Z Review – The Design

The OnePlus Buds Z has stems similar to the Apple AirPods Pro. The stems are a bit longer than Buds Pro models. The dynamic driver 10mm delivers a bass-forward sound signature and would be liked by many people who like bass including me. They come with 3 pairs of silicone ear tips (S, M, and L). You should try all at first to find the one size that fit your ears.

The charging case shape and the style of earbuds are similar to Anker Soundcore Life P2. The charging case is a capsule shape. They come with a glossy exterior and also a flip-top lid. The front of the charging case has a LED for showing the battery status. There is a USB type C port for plugging the charging cable on the rear panel houses. The earbuds have a bit long stems.

Personally thinking the overall design is plain and not flashy. I prefer the OnePlus Buds Pro in terms of design. But the beauty of the design is a personal preference that may not be the same for each person, right?

Sensitive Touch Control

The controls on the earpieces are quite sensitive for touching and also adjustable to a degree. Any customize has to do via an app on the OnePlus mobile phone. If you use other mobile brands that are not OnePlus mobile (both Android and iOS), you need to download the app HeyMelody to customize and update the functionality of your Buds Z. The one thing you should know, requires Andriod 6.0 or later when you did not use a OnePlus phone.

How to control the Buds Z

  • Control playback – double tap
  • Pause music – take off the buds from the ears
  • Answer/End calls – double tap
  • Reject incoming call – tab and hold
  • Switches to the last connected devices – press and hold the earbuds for 3 seconds

The design of the touch control is not clear. Easy to mistake between switches to another device and reject the incoming call.

How is the Battery Life of the OnePlus Bud Z?

The estimate of playtime of these cheap wireless earbuds is roughly 5 hours per single charge on earbuds. Additional around 15 hours from the charging case. The total playtime is around 20 hours, which is roughly estimated. But your results will vary with the volume setting. But with 5 hours of continuous playtime, it’s satisfying for me. will have some time to rest my ears.

When it comes to charging, the OnePlus Buds Z has fast charge features as well. You can get additional power for around 3 hours when plugging in the USB-C to the power socket for only 10 minutes.

The noise-isolating capabilities of the OnePlus Buds Z

If you place the ear tips properly, it will completely seal your ear canal and plenty of background noise will be blocked. Even though it’s not all of the background noise, most will be blocked. The Oneplus Buds Z is not active noise cancellation wireless earbuds, it’s passive isolation. Hence; can’t compare to the pair of noise canceling headphones like Jabra Elite 85t or Sony WF-1000XM4. However; in my opinion, these cheap wireless earbuds offer more effective than most cheap in-ear on the market.

How about the audio quality of these cheap wireless earbuds?

The OnePlus Buds Z is not ideal for those who are an audiophile and need high-end headphones. If you are that case, you should look elsewhere. But the OnePlus Buds Z wireless earbuds are quite good when compared to their price. The standard frequency response (20Hz to 20kHz) and 10mm dynamic drivers may not be as impressive as they should be, but it’s a solid, consumer-friendly sound for its price.

The bass boost feature will provide the definitely bass sound. The Buds Z offers a powerful low-frequency response. If you are who like listening to rap or heavy rock genres music, the OnePlus Buds Z provides the sound amazing for you. But I feel the mids are slightly lacking and rather muted. These wireless earbuds deliver good lows and peaks, but the mids are just a bit lacking.

OnePlus Buds Z Review – Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Quite cheap wireless earbuds
  • Fast charge
  • IP55 waterproof & dustproof

OnePlus Buds Z Review – Final Verdicts

All in all the OnePlus Buds Z review is quite cheap but provides good decent sound quality. The bass is quite strong and far better than any other cheap earbuds.
