Boltune Elite Hybrid ANC review: Boltune’s True Wireless earbuds are an inexpensive pair of earbuds with Bluetooth 5.2, IPX7 water protection, and up to 33 hours of total playtime. These Boltune earbuds come at an affordable price and are packed with features. Also, charge through USB Type-C, this is a pretty attractive collection of features.
Boltune Elite Hybrid ANC (Model: BT-BH030)
Noise-canceling & ambient mode, comfortable and secure fit, in-ear detection, mode: single/twin, playtime: 6 – 9 hours (single charge)/33 hours (with case), IPX7 waterproof rating
Boltune earbuds offer a simple design with a matte-black plastic finish that is both attractive and comfortable to use. These wireless earbuds are lightweight due to their plastic composition, making them easy to use for long periods.
The earbuds include a multi-function button on each one that controls the volume and track settings, so you won’t have to take out your phone to make rapid changes to your listening experience — everything can be done right from the earphones.
An indication LED, charge pads for charging the earbuds in the charging case, and an ear letter indicator are all on the bottom of the earbud stem, ensuring that you place the proper earbud in the correct ear.
The earbuds include a rubber-tip construction that provides a snug fit and a decent level of passive sound isolation for loud listening settings. The box includes a variety of ear-tip sizes so you can choose the perfect fit.
Overall, the earbuds’ design is nice, and the experience that the design provides is good – I can’t complain given the price.
The charging case, like the earphones, is made of black plastic and has a black finish. The case has a clamshell design that, when opened, pairs the earphones with your smartphone so you don’t have to wait for them to pair while you’re wearing them – I found the pairing and connection procedure to be extremely rapid and remarkable.
The lid hinge is of high quality and robust so that while trying to pull the earbud out of the case it won’t accidentally close. Several businesses are inexpensive, however, Boltune offers an excellent and secure quality hinge.
On the front of the case, there is a battery indicator that shows the battery charge level, which regrettably does not specify when the earphones charge in the case itself. The rear of the casing has a USB Type C connector, which I’m extremely glad to find on a set of cheap wireless earbuds – nice job Boltune. The port is current Type C.
For the price, the earbuds give a decent listening experience. These earbuds offer a warmer sound profile than earbuds in the lower price range, with a concentration on the lower-end bass frequencies and deep bass that sounds excellent with electronic music.
Despite the concentration on bass, I was delighted with the purity of these earbuds’ high frequencies; vocalists sound clear, but I wish there was a little more emphasis on the mid frequencies; the bass from the lower frequencies drowns out part of the mid frequencies.
The earphones can be rather loud, with plenty of volumes — throughout testing, I discovered that I had the earbuds set to just under 50% volume. Passive sound isolation is also excellent with rubber-tip earphones.
The earphones’ microphone is adequate. It isn’t the greatest since its noise suppression is fairly strong, which means it can occasionally cut out some of the words I’m saying, and the microphone can be quiet at the beginning of a phrase before adapting to my speaking level.
In general, the earphones are OK for a brief phone conversation or voice memo, but if you intend on making a lot of phone calls, you might be better off just utilizing your phone’s built-in microphone.
The earbuds boast a decent playtime of around 6 hours (ANC on) and 9 – 10 hours (ANC off) on a single charge (earbuds), which when paired with the charging case may offer you a total of 33 hours of listening time, or 5 more charges before they need to be recharged. This, of course, varies depending on how loud you listen.
When it comes to charging the earphones, USB Type-C is used. I’m thrilled to see Type-C in a low-cost product, and I hope this trend continues in the future. The charging case features quick charging capabilities and can be completely charged in around 90 minutes.
