How important is the surge protector? Of course, it’s very critical to protect your expensive electric appliances. No matter what, if you spend a lot of money—several hundred dollars or thousands of dollars—the power strip with a surge protector is very important to protect your devices that may be damaged by a power surge or spike. So, choosing the appropriate power strip surge protector is vital and can save money from buying a new, expensive electric device. Especially, some devices are very fragile, like PCs, laptops, TVs, and other electronic devices.
The one thing that is important to realize is that most surge protectors can save your electric gadgets from only a single surge. You should know that if other devices in your home seem to be affected by a power surge, you should not hesitate to replace new surge protector devices immediately.
In short word, a surge protector prevents sudden and severe influxes of electricity that can’t go straight to your devices.
First, choose a surge protector with a joule rating minimum of 600 J. For expensive and sensitive devices, for example, computers, laptops, smart TVs, and home theaters, you should buy a power strip surge protector with at least 1000 J or higher.
First of all, you have to know the number of electric devices that you want to plug into the power strip surge protector. Then buy a power strip with at least the number of outlets you need. However, if you have many devices that need to plug into the surge protector power strip, I recommend you divide the number into two or three parts. And use the two surge protector power strips or more to support all your devices. This way, to prevent overcurrent and overload voltage, the power strip can support
One thing most people don’t think about when shopping for a power strip is the wattage they can handle. And same, most people also don’t know how much power their electric appliances are. But there is one thing to keep in mind when using the power strip: don’t overload. So, if you are not sure, don’t plug too many electric devices into one power strip. And don’t plug the power strip into another power strip. If you want to make more connections to your devices, you should use the second power strip to plug into another socket on the wall. This is very important too.
You should consider the power strip surge protector that comes with the RJ11 and coaxial port if you still need to use a wired Ethernet connection for your desktop or a satellite or cable connection.
As far as I know, there are some of Belkin’s power strips that have RJ11 and coaxial ports installed in them. In the bestseller list of the power strip surge protector below, there are Belkin BE112230-08 and Belkin PivotPlug 12-Outlet that have built-in 1-in-2-out RJ11 and coaxial.
Many surge protectors provide individual switches for each socket to control each device conveniently. You can switch off some electric devices you don’t use and turn on only some outlets that need working.
