ASTRO A50 Review – Wireless Gaming Headsets

ASTRO A50 Review – Short words

ASTRO A50 review: Good wireless gaming headsets with cradle transmission. They are provides very low latency that gives an excellent gaming experience. Lightweight design including soft and thick memory foam padding on earcups, help comfort your ear. The Astro A50 provides around 15 hours of playtime which is good enough for most gamers.

ASTRO A50 Wireless Gaming Headsets

over-ear, wireless, playtime: up to 15 hours, flip-to-mute boom mic, base station for PS4/PS5/PC/Mac, low-latency voice communication, Dolby audio, built-in MixMap, tuned with ASTRO audio V2

Astro A50 is a long-time popular gaming headphone for many gamers. It’s also an excellent wireless gaming headset that comes with a nice black color headset and base station for Xbox or Playstation.

Astro A50 Review with Design

The headphones’ body design is nearly identical to the old model, 2016. The rectangular earcups and base station which a square-shaped design that matches the headphone perfectly. The Astro Gaming A50 uses primary colors in an almost entirely black color scheme.

The earpad and underside of the headband padding with soft memory foam with breathable fabric. While on top of both sides of the earpieces are aluminum bars that extend upward to support the leveling of the headband. The rest of these wireless gaming headphones is matte black plastic which is enduring. The consequence is the Astro A50 gaming headsets which are comfortable fit and light that you can wear for long-session gameplay.

The back of the left earcup is located a permanently installed with the boom microphone. The amazing feature that I like is a flip-to-mute microphone, which is very convenient.

Ports and Connectivity

When it comes to controls, all physical button stays on the right of the earcup. There is a volume wheel, an EQ button, a Dolby surround sound button. The rear edge is the location of the power button. There is a game & voice mix rocker switch on the back panel. You can charge the headset via the micro USB port that stays on the bottom of the right earcup.

The base station is quite big and trapezoid-shaped. The material is matte black plastic and strong. There is the status light on the bottom front of the base station. Another micro USB port for power and connecting to the game console or PC is placed on the back of the base station. There is a USB port at back too, its uses for connecting to the headset while charging. Besides, there is also an optical audio input/output for PlayStation 4, a 3.5mm AUX input, and a PC/console mode switch.

Astro A50 Wireless Gaming Headsets – Built Quality

The built quality of Astro A50 is very well and also feels tough. The cups use sturdy plastic and the hinges are durable metal. However; these wireless gaming headsets can durable a few accidental falls and not too much damage.

The Microphone Performance

The Astro Gaming A50’s microphone is so solid. But the default setting is not right for me. I feel that the presets seemed rather muddy at first. However; after a bit of tweak, everything is better. The sound is clear and clean.

Astro A50 Review – Ventilate

The breathability of the earcups is decent as well. However; because their design is over-ear and big, so they completely cover the ear and that causes a bit of heat to occur when wearing them for long hours. These wireless headphones are designed for gaming, not for sport. While you are exercising, you will have more sweat and the A50 is not a water-resistant headset. But playing games will not cause plenty of sweat.

How Astro Gaming A50’s Many Playtime?

The company claims that playtime is up to 15 hours per single charge. But I can’t tell if 15 hours is completely true, can only predict that it is quite possible to play for up to 15 hours. I couldn’t tell for sure how many Astro A50’s battery life. Since I can’t play games for more than 10 hours consecutively, and also the Astro Gaming A50 headset comes with automatic sleep mode after not any activity for more than 30 minutes. That makes it impossible for us to clearly test the battery. But from my testing moving the headsets or wearing them every around 1 hour and checking the battery percentage. I can estimate around the battery life of these best gaming headsets is around 14 to 15 hours.

The good Astro A50’s feature is automatic sleep after half-hour without activity.

This feature helps to save power if you forget to off your headset. It will go to sleep mode and not too much charge when you next pick it up.

Gaming with This Best Gaming headset, Astro A50

These wireless headsets for gaming provide Dolby Audio surround sound while playing the game on the PC and PS4 and do well enough. Especially, Game as Doom Eternal, Overwatch, or Ris of Rain 2. The heavy metal sound is great which makes the game’s battle a pleasing audio experience.

The Astro A50 Gaming wireless headphones deliver a slightly over-emphasized bass tone and do not emphasize the highs. Dolby Audio is a slightly better headset’s frequency response when turned this feature on.
