OnePlus Buds Z2 Review – Short words

OnePlus Buds Z2 Review: These are great wireless active noise-canceling earbuds under $100. There is 2 level of ANC adaptable and also transparency mode. The earbud and charging case provides up to 38 hours of playtime. IP55 rating protects your earbud from splash or sweat and with this rating you can wear them for running or working out. Another very good thing is the Buds Z2 support Dolby Atmos technology. This feature provides 3D surround sound, natural and realistic with impressive sound. Furthermore, give more convenient with the detect wearing feature, the music pause when you take the buds off from the ears too.

OnePlus Buds Z

ANC true wireless earbuds, IP55 rating, playtime (ANC off): 7H (single charge)/ 38H (with case), Fast charging (10 minutes get 5 hours), compact design & lightweight, secure fit, ear detection, mono/dual mode

Are you looking for a new pair of wireless earbuds with great active noise cancellation plus with not too expensive? If your budget has to be less than 100 dollars, the Oneplus Buds Z2 is one of the highly recommended items you should have. Especially if you have a OnePlus smartphone, the Buds Z2 will be pretty the best wireless earbuds under 100 bucks for you as well as a must-have. Why I say that, try to look at the detail of the OnePlus Buds Z2 review now.

OnePlus Buds Z2 Review – Sleek and Compact Design

The exterior design is quite similar to the OnePlus Buds Z both the earbud and charging case. The stem design and quite short (not too long). it’s shorter than the first model, Buds Z about 15%. With a weight of only 4.5 grams, each earbud makes these wireless earbuds offer very comfortable for a long listening session. And also I don’t feel any pain in my ears even wear for hours. In the box provide three different sizes of ear tips: small, medium, and large. You should choose the size the secure fit size for ears.

The charging case is designed like a pill shape or a capsule shape. The size is compact and lightweight too. The rear of the case has a mini USB-C port for charging.

How about the durability?

The Buds Z2 maintains IP55 water and dust resistance, so you can wear these earbuds for fitness, running, or travel companions. The IP55 level is mean it can protect from splash or sweat but it can’t immerse in the water. While the charging case can handle some slight splashes of water, just is an IPX4 rating.

Easy Touch Control

The OnePlus Buds Z2 is designed for intuitive touch control and is not confusing.

  • One tap – play/pause a song
  • Double tap – skip to the next song
  • Tripple tap – back to the previous song
  • Tap and hold for one second – switch between noise cancellation and transparency mode
  • Tap and hold for three seconds – connect the earbuds to another device

Automatic pause music by the ear detection feature is still present in the Buds Z2 model. You just take the buds off the ears, the music will pause automatically immediately

You can also customize the onboard touch control via the HeyMelody app (which can download from the Play Store and App Store). Also can adjust the setting for each combination of taps on either earbud as well. Besides, you can select between 2 levels of ANC modes, as well as transparency or regular listening mode.

Those who are using the OnePlus mobile phone can customize it in the Bluetooth menu of the mobile phone.

One of the biggest issues that I found, there is no EQ customization function or even way to adjust the preset EQ profile of the earbuds. The is a vital missing feature, which you can found it on the OnePlus Buds Pro.

OnePlus Buds Z2 Review – How about the battery life?

In terms of the battery life, the OnePlus Buds Z2 can long play up to 6 to 7 hours continuously with ANC turned off. But If you turned on ANC, you will get playtime for around 4 to 5 hours, which is considered quite long hours. With this time you can watch up to 2 movies.

Additionally, the OnePlus don’t miss the fast charging feature. The Buds Z2 comes with warp charge via USB type C, 10 minutes get additional power of up to 5 hours. That’s quite a lot enough for continuously using.

OnePlus Buds Z2 Review – The Sound Quality

This OnePlus Buds Z2 review, if not to mention the sound quality, is probably not a good review. When talking about the review of headphones or wireless earbuds, sound quality is the main topic and very vital to making decisions for many people. The one thing that you should know is the OnePlus Buds Z2 is not an audiophile, so it doesn’t deliver the sound performance as audiophile headphones like as WH-1000XM4 of Sony or Elite 85t of Jabra.

However; the great wireless earbuds under $100 provide quite good sound quality as well. The 11mm dynamic driver that is compatible with Dolby Atmos provides enough wide soundstage and is also wider than I think. Feel not uncomfortable while listening. The bass is quite prominent but the mids are not lacking as well. But the highs are not pretty complete, so if anyone likes treble music genres, the OnePlus Buds Z2 is not ideal wireless earbuds for them. The highs are not very prominent in these models of wireless earbuds

How about the noise cancellation that the OnePlus Buds Z2 offer?

The company claim that the Buds Z2 model can reduce the noise up to 42dB. From my testing, I can wear the Buds Z2 wireless earbud and walk on the footpath side of the road, take on the subway/metro or the train with turn on the volume around 50% to 60%, I can hardly hear outside noise.

But there is one notice, if you are connected the Buds Z2 to your mobile that is not the OnePlus brand, the ANC feature will a little dropping. Hence for the best performance, I recommend that use the Buds Z2 with the OnePlus mobile.
