Noise cancellation feature has become somewhat common over the past few years – but advanced noise-canceling headphones still are not cheap. There are products like Bose QC35 II, and the new Sony WH 1000XM3 – but in the sub 250-350 USD range, the quality of a product can be a hit and miss. This TaoTronics TT-BH046 review lets you know that is this headphone good or bad.
TaoTronics TT-BH046 Hybrid ANC Headphones – Better Than Ever
That, though is the market that TaoTronic needs to take on, with the new TaoTronic hybrid ANC headphones.
Less than 100 USD, these could be the go-to noise-canceling headphones for all those on a budget. In my TaoTronics Hybrid ANC review I’m going to test them completely, are they worth purchasing, or should you save up for something else?
When you take the TaoTronics Hybrid ANC headphones out of the box you will rapidly notice that they look quite fine for a pair of headsets in this price tag. They feature padding a fine sleek design, and simple-to-use features.
Most of the build of the TaoTronics headphones
On the left side, you will get a Micro USB feature, which is extremely disappointing to see. It is 2019 and anybody not using type C is way behind the times. On the right side, you will get an Aux port, a power button, and a volume rocker. There is also a switch to activate/deactivate the ANC feature, which is found on the front of the earcup and is extremely simple to turn on/off.
In the box, there is a fine selection of accessories too. You will get a Micro USB charging wire, an aux wire, and an airplane adapter. There is also a fine solid carry case which is extremely useful for a pair of earphones that you will likely use while walking or traveling.
Active noise-cancelation headphones are often used for long-term flights, and it is vital that they remain highly comfortable. Thankfully, the TaoTronics TT-BH046 Hybrid ANC headphones do pretty well in that area. For starters, there is a planet of padding in the ear cups and below the headband, which aids make sure that the headphones continue to feel soft even after a long time.
I found that these over-ear headphones did have a little tight fit. Still, I was able to use the headsets for hours at a time without too many concerns.
So here we’re in the sound section. This is what most users want to know about, I am just going to jump right into sound performance and ANC.
The TaoTronics Hybrid ANC headphones lean extremely heavily to the bass side of the sound stage. Headphones are tuned for bass likers. That does not make them bad, it just makes them rich bass.
I tend to love a balanced soundstage where each frequency is heard the way the singer intended. I do love a slight turning towards the bass frequency but ever so slight. I really enjoyed the sound performance of the TaoTronics sound, but not as other options. Knowing that my tastes are not everybody else’s though. I enjoyed it a lot.
The Active noise cancellation features work pretty great as well, it is not excellent by any means and there are more costly options with better ANC features. That being said, the ANC feature is acceptable here, especially given the price tag of these TT headphones.
TT says these should last 30 hours, I didn’t test the 30-hour window but I was capable of going a few days without charging. I utilized the TaoTronics Hybrid ANC headphones almost daily about 3-4hrs a day. So the battery life is great here, but I am sure using the ANC feature all of the time will consume more battery.
The TaoTronics headphones feature hybrid ANC, which is a little different than many typical ANC headphones. Usually, ANC headsets use a feedforward to catch the sound to cancel out, these mics are situated on the out or inside of the headphones. But in TaoTronics TT-BH046 Hybrid ANC uses mics on both the inside and outside, which is a better, but more costly, alternative.
Though this ANC is not as great as TaoTronics Hybrid ANC, it is rather competitive for this price.
On the other side, TT-BH022 has a better battery life (45 hours), which is more than TT-BH046 (30 hours). That is really vital to somebody who intends to make heavy use of ANC features. This brings us to ANC, which is actually a solid point for the TaoTronics TT-BH022.
When it comes to design, the TT-BH046 Hybrid ANC is not foldable but able to 90-degree rotation axis. While TT-BH022 is designed to be foldable. However; both are adjustable headbands.

The TaoTronics Hybrid ANC headphones are truly well-made and look and feel more like premium headphones. The ANC feature works really well. It is not the best one on the market but it works really well enough for this price tag.
These are bass-heavy and if you are not into the lower end of the audio spectrum these might not be for you. But even if you are not into bass, these might not be so bad and you’d tolerate a little heavier bass simply because the price is so amazing.
I hope that this TaoTronics TT-BH046 review will give enough useful information for your decision. Thank you for reading.
