Drop THX Panda Review: The Drop + THX Panda wireless headphones review: these headphones are for people who care about the best in sound quality. It’s is a niche product. Forasmuch other competitors in this price tag provide many more features that THX Panda doesn’t. However; the one thing that THX Panda is superior other is in terms of the sound quality.
Thanks to Planar-Ribbon technology, The Drop + THX Panda is wireless headphones that offer more distortion-resistant, more responsive, and more realistic sounding.
Drop + THX Panda Wireless Headphones
Wireless over-ear & closed-back design, THX AAA amplifier technology, Planar-Ribbon drivers, Bluetooth 5.0, support LDAC, playtime up to 30+ hours, built-in mic
Drop or the old name Massdrop has a good reputation with audio companies like Sennheiser, and Bose. At last, Drop research and develop a lower-cost alternative to over-ear and closed-back headphones. The Drop + THX Panda wireless headphones are the results of the best-sounding wireless headphone in the price range of 400 dollars.
The Drop THX Panda wireless headphones are focused on sound quality, but they can’t beat the comfort features found on other brands of wireless headphones in their price range. For example, ANC customization, EQ customization, or not supporting voice assistant.
So, I can say that if your top priority is well-built headphones quality and fantastic sound performance and not focus on convenient features, the Drop + THX Panda wireless headphones are the best options. It’s difficult to find the better than the Drop + THX Panda.
The overall design looks similar to the Oppo PM series of headphones and is very simple. No brand logo on the outside of the headphones. The exterior of the headphones is a matte black suitable for any place.
The company uses materials like plastic, protein leather, and cast aluminum as components of Drop + THX Panda over-ear headphones. The protein leather with thick ear cushion padding is useful for great noise isolation. Besides, they are soft and comfortable too.
Because the Drop uses aluminum and a heavy planar magnet, which makes the headphone is gained quite a weight at 350 grams (13.2 ounces). Compared to others like Sony WH-1000XM4 (9 ounces), the THX Panda are over 46% heavier.
With a bit heavy-weight, I feel that it’s causing some discomfort around the head after several hours of wearing.
When it comes to controlling, it’s intuitive and easy. You can easily track forward/back by pressing the left and right, respectively. Play and pause with just a single press, and power on/off with just a long press. Volume control, by pressing up/down.
The sound quality and the sound balances are close to neutral. The bass is deep and rich. And also, the bass is not excessive. The mids focus on vocal performances well done. Highs are not too pointed and not fatiguing, even though at high volumes.
The Drop THX Panda wireless headphones offer sound fun and enough accuracy. We found the Drop + THX Panda is less accurate than the Beyerdynamic Amirion Wireless’s sound.
When it comes to the soundstage, the Drop + THX Panda does just moderate. The imaging is excellent for all types of music. Another thing that I impressed, the sound quality is still great whether you use wireless or wired modes and the same sound quality. The positive is, you will never lose sound quality if the power is run out.
These over-ear headphones support aptX, aptX HD, aptX adaptive, SBC, and ACC. Besides, they also support the LDAC codec. That means some Android smartphones that have support LDAC can play high-res files and the highest quality is what can be expected. Another good feature is multi-device paring (up to 8) which connected up to two devices concurrently.
THX panda headphones are not active noise-canceling. But, they work a good of isolating noise to some extent. That’s why I have to turn up the volume level to resist the external sound from high-frequency like the roar on the train or a fruit blender sound. So, if you focus on the best noise-canceling headphones, you should look over the Drop + THX panda. I recommend trying the Bose 700 noise-canceling or Sony WH-1000XM4 It should be a good option for you.
The playtime of these over-ear headphones is excellent. We found that there is no problem in the range of 30 hours of playback at 50% volume. The sound is quite loud and never sounds strained. It could be claimed to be better than most headphones on the market right now. That is proof that the Drop + THX Panda’s amplifier is designed for these headphones.

Other competitors that are close to both the features and prices like Beyerdynamic Amiron or Sony WH-1000XM3. The Amiron is less fun-sounding but more a reference studio-monitor sound. The Sony WH-1000XM3 or XM4 is more popular in the market in the price range of $300 – $400. The Sony WH-1000 series offers to sound great. However; Drop + THX Panda is better than details, texture, and impact.
