Status Audio CB-1 Review – Closed Back Studio Monitor Headphones

Status Audio CB-1 Review – Short Words

Status Audio CB-1 review: Great value for studio monitor headphones under 100 bucks. They offer good sound quality and a quite wide soundstage. These cheap studio monitoring headphones are very comfortable with thick soft padded-on earcups that are good for hours listening to music. The Audio CB-1 is a simple design with a black and gold ring on both earcups. Foldable and extendable headband too.

Status Audio CB-1

around-ear & circumaural, 50 dynamic drivers provide massive soundstage and incredible detail, foldable earcups, soft padding earpads, extendable headband, wired (3.5mm)

There are many affordable headphones that come at prices below $100 and also they are good pairs of headphones. The Status Audio CB-1 closed-back headphones are one of this group. Even though these closed-back headphones are not the best sounding headphones, they are better than most competitors’ prices below $100 in them of sound performance. Granted, the headphones’ body and design are quite ancient and need for improvement about noise isolation, but the Status Audio CB-1 is wired headphones that deliver the pleasurable listening experience with great sounding and are also very comfortable for a long listening session.

Status Audio CB-1 – Design for Comfort

The Audio CB-1’s design is not strengths and is not very fashionable, look not modern design. Generally and minimalist appearance like many headphones with quite cheap. The Status Audio CB-1 can’t win over fashion audiophiles headphones like Bose 700 noise-canceling headphones or Skullcandy Crusher Wireless.

The overall material is plastic. The headband and earcups pack with soft leatherette offers soft and comfortable on your head and ears. I believe that you can use Audio CB-1 for listening to music for long sessions without fatiguing your ears because of very generously padded earcups. These are also well breathable too. These cheap studio monitor headphones also come with detachable cables with silver and gold plated 3.5 mm jacks, which look luxe and also great quality. That is one of the reasons the Audio CB-1 is great and ideal for studio monitoring headphones.

Another good thing is the cord-lock mechanism that is placed on the underneath left earcup. This will prevent the cable from slipping too easily from the earcups.

On the earcups, there are two gold rings around earcups that help the headphones look more beautiful, but it is cheap metal and also easy to scratch and can slough.

The last thing about the design worth talking about in the Status Audio CB-1 review that is there is not any logo or branding at all on the headphones. That makes the headphones look not deluxe and look generic in our feeling. However; this is a reason why the Status Audio CB-1 Studio Monitor headphones are quite cheap. There is no paid-for branding and we are happy for this trade-off.

Best Studio and Monitoring Headphones under 100 – Comfort and fit

The weight is only 8 ounces and soft padding earcups let you can wear them for hours and without feeling fatigued. At the 8 ounces that less than the 10 ounces of the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X, not only weight but the price is less than too.

Thanks to the thick and soft padding on both earcups, we can wear and listen to music for hours without any pain ear or heat at all. Because the design supports ample space for breathing with penetrating for ventilating.

The headband is padding with soft padded but thinner. But it still provides enough comfort. The good news for those who have big heads, the Audio CB-1 is an adjustable headband to snug-fit to prevent slippage and stable sit on the head.

Status Audio CB-1 Review – The Sound Quality

As we know, impossible that the studio monitoring headphones under $100 will deliver very great sound quality as good as audiophile headphones like Sennheiser HD600 S or Planar Magnetic headphones like HifiMAN Ananda. The Status Audio CB-1 is not ultra-modern sound circuitry but offers good decent sound quality. They provide a wide soundstage and great stereo imaging that good for all music genres and media platforms.

The Status Audio CB-1 is created for fairly neutral-sounding headphones. They offer impressive detail for headphones under $100. The bass is not too strong and can extend quite far for the right music. The treble is shiny and not too harsh and gives a lot of detail of the song. The Audio CB-1 is good work with jazz or classical genres.

These cheap studio monitoring headphones offer good balancing sound and neutral. Even though there is nothing outstanding in the design, but the sound quality is very good when compared to the other headphones under $100. But just that it’s not wireless and not good for portable. So if you focus on portable and convenient for walking around while listening to music, you should look over the Audio CB-1 and aim at wireless earbuds that there are plenty in the market and cheap.

Audio CB-1 Review – Noise Isolation

When it comes to noise isolation, the Audio CB-1 do not quite good. Quite a surprise! the earcups are fat padding but the headphones let in a fair amount of ambient noise. They are not perfect for portable and commuting. Don’t forget, the Status Audio CB-1 is created for studio and recording in the studio room or private place.
