HifiMAN Arya Review: Overall, the HifiMAN Arya is a very high-detailed-sounding headphone. The planar magnetic headphones offer a spacious soundstage. With full-size, that can cover whole your ears and not put any pressure on the auricle.
HifiMAN Arya Headphones – Ideal for Audiophiles & Studio
full-size over-ear planar magnet audiophile, nanometer thickness diaphragm, high-grade plastic construction, advanced asymmetrical magnet system, metal
The high-end open-back planar magnetic headphones, the HifiMAN Arya that release in 2019. It’s come at a retail price of around half of the HifiMAN HE 1000SE. Arya’s external design is similar to HE 1000SE including structurally and technologically. Thanks to nanometer-thickness diaphragm technology and design the headphones evenly cover the diaphragm’s surface and offer distortion-free output. These open-back headphones under $2000 like HifiMAN Arya are designed to be easy to use and have no need to use a high-power amp. Are these planar magnetic headphones good and you should buy one? Let’s detail in this HifiMAN Arya review answer you.
There is something to keep in mind: the HifiMAN has a lot of high-end headphones. Since 2015, HifiMan has released HE1000, HE1000 V2, HE1000SE, Ananda, HE-6SE, and the one that I reviewed, HifiMAN Arya.
All of the models above are very pricey, and the Arya is not the most expensive headphones of HifiMAN.
Each model has some differences in design and features. The Aryas’ design does quite look like some high-end HifiMAN headphones like the HE1000SE and HE1000V2. Personally, the HifiMAN Arya does not give a feeling of the most premium headphones, not like the HE1000SE or Focal Stellia close-back. However, the feeling is great construction and solid. It’s very practical and so rugged, even through use for a long time.
When it comes to comfort, the HifiMAN Arya is one of the most comfortable open-back headphones. They are full-size planar magnetic headphones and have large hole earcups that cover whole ears. Why are they the most comfortable headphones? The remarkable lightweight, just 404g, keeps you without fatigue while wearing them for a prolonged time to listen to music. The design has large earcups and has a lot of space for your ears to fit in and does not press on the auricle. Moreover, the HifiMAN Arya’s inner headband is created from wide plate leather that lets it distribute weight very well. Also, the earcup can swivel; this feature is not found on the Ananda and Susvara models.
The HifiMAN Arya is a planar magnetic headphone designed by using an advanced asymmetrical magnetic system. Simply say that the Arya uses smaller magnets on the side facing the ear and larger magnets on another side (outer side). This method will reduce interference in the sound wave transmission from the diaphragm. That means the total harmonic distortion will be reduced as well.
The grille outside earcup uses “Windows Shade” technology that lets the sound go easy on the back via the grille and reduces the resonance.
The short word, the HifiMAN Arya is a warm and open spacious soundstage with very dynamic sound.
The Bass: The sound is so big and solid bass. The Arya offers a lot of detail in the deep bass and can clearly feel the very low frequency.
The vocals: when it comes to the vocals, they are crisp and clear. Dominant vocal with various details, including dynamic. The music’s rhythm is very clear and clearly conveys the feeling of the music.
The treble: I feel the treble is crystal clear, and the end of the sound can go a long way without sound breakdown.
The soundstage: The HifiMAN Arya Planar Magnetic open-back headphones offer a very spacious soundstage and a feeling of openness. The sound dimension gives a feeling of being surrounded both in width and depth. I can feel the position of the instrument is clear. And also separates the position between vocals and instruments seamlessly.
