Sony WH-1000XM5 Review: When it comes to the best noise-canceling headphones, Sony will always be at the top in the music industry. The Sony WH-1000XM5 also as well, it was launched not long ago but it received many positive reviews. Especially in terms of sound quality, it is very excellent and also fantastic active noise cancellation too. The good thing that I so much like is the automatically optimized noise-canceling level based on your wearing conditions and environment. Besides, the ultra-comfortable and lightweight design plus earcup padded with soft leather let supreme comfortable for ears. The Sony WH-1000XM5 provides playtime of up to 30 hours that better than Bose QC45 offers only 20 hours.
Sony WH-1000XM5
Auto noise canceling optimizer, Ambient sound, Supreme comfortable, wearing detection, multi-device connection, 30 hours of playtime, quick charge: 3Mins for 3H, fold flat design, speak to chat, touch control, Hi-Res audio, support LDAC
Finally, the day many audiophiles have been waiting for has arrived. Sony released the latest new flagship active noise canceling headphones, the Sony WH-1000XM5. This is an all-redesign of both the looks and interior features. And the Sony WH-1000XM5 is also still the best noise-canceling headphones in the high-end class. Sony stay at the head of the market and was the formidable competitor of Bose, Sennheiser, Jabra, and also Beoplay. Today we will be talking about the detail of Sony WH-1000XM5 reviews including what are their good and weak features.
All new redesign and different from the predecessor model (WH-1000XM4 and WH-1000XM3). The headband is thinner and smaller. The earcup’s size is the same previous model, driver diameter is 30mm.
The new headband length adjustment that Sony calls “Stepless design” can adjust length finely to accommodate more head sizes.
But the pity of the WH-1000XM5 is that the earcups can’t fold inward. This is the one good thing that the predecessor model (Sony WH-1000XM4 and WH-1000XM3) is better than the Sony WH-1000XM5. However; the WH-1000XM5 still can fold flat or rotate the earcup to 90-degree and come with a nice thin hard case to protect your headphones. That is easy to portable and doesn’t take up much space in the bag.
The ear cushions are made of soft and flexible fit leather, which is squeezed and it can recover slowly that is very comfortable for wearing even though for a hours.
From our testing, we wear the Sony WH-1000XM4 for listening to music for about a few hours. Found that it was very comfortable throughout its use. The headphones properly hug the area around the ears and are not too pressured. We don’t feel pain even wearing the WH-1000XM5 for a long time.
This is the main key point of the Sony WH-1000XM5 and Sony still does not make FC disappoint. The new model of Sony, WH-1000XM5 can reduce and block outside noise very well. The WH-1000XM5 takes noise cancellation to new heights. It’s almost as if you’ve entered a bubble where external sounds fade away. Whether in a noisy café or a crowded train, the headphones effortlessly block out distractions, allowing you to immerse yourself fully in your music or podcast. In comparison, while the Bose QC45 offers commendable ANC, the Sony model often outperformed it, delivering a more immersive auditory experience.
The adaptive sound control feature works great and is accurate. The Sony WH-1000XM5 can automatically adjust the level of active noise cancellation while you do activities. Whether you are walking, running, or sitting, the WH-1000XM5 can detect your gesture and adjust the noise-canceling or level of transparency automatically, more precisely, and more suitable for use.
Sony chooses processor chipsets V1 and QN1 to work together to perform better than ever. Together four microphones cancel noise on each earcup (total 8 mics for both). It allows you to hear and focus only on the voice of the person you are calling.
When talking about ambient sound mode, the Sony WH-1000XM5 offers crisp, clear, loud, and natural sound.
This topic is very difficult to describe, an explanation of the sound quality involves feeling and mood while listening. And the vocab about sounding is quite specific. But I try to do my best.
Bass: These wireless ANC headphones deliver strong, deep bass and a clear bass knob. They have a large bass but are not overwhelming.
Treble: Not too sharp and there’s no spike in the high mids or in the high end.
Mids: Well balanced and crystal clear. The Sony WH-1000XM5 offers a full mid-range sound and is smooth. The male vocals feel strong, clear, and full-body vocals. The female vocals give feel soft and sweet. Provides good detail of sound.
Sound Stage: The soundstage is wider than the previous model. This makes the focus of each piece of music more stable and clear. The soundstage is better in both width and depth. You can feel direction for both separate each instrument and a distinctive vocal in the middle.
Overall in terms of the Sony WH-1000XM5’s sound quality, considered is excellent sound performance. The lows, mids, highs, and soundstage are well balanced and do perfectly in each frequency.
