Bowers & Wilkins PX7 review: The PX7 is a great noise-canceling headphone. Premium material and lightweight design with carbon fiber. The Bowers & Wilkins PX7 gives fantastic sound quality, extreme clarity, and a wide soundstage. Nevertheless, the bass is not the key feature of these headphones, not too strong but on point. It’s great ANC headphones and there are three levels of noise cancellation. However, the PX7 is not the strongest noise-cancellation headphone. The best noise-canceling headphones that can block outside noise almost 100% must be dispensed with pressure in the ear. So, for who those prefer the strong ANC, try the WH-1000XM4 or Bose N700.
Bowers & Wilkins PX7 – Wireless Bluetooth Adaptive Noise-Canceling Headphones
Adaptive noise-canceling (3 levels), Bluetooth, wireless, lightweight & comfy, 30 hours of playtime, built-in mic, wear sensors, ambient pass-through, aptX adaptive
When it comes to high-end noise-canceling headphones in the market nowadays, Bose, Sony, and Jabra are the best noise-canceling headphones brand. Each brand has a flagship model whether Sony WH-1000XM4, Bose 700 noise-canceling, or Jabra Elite 85h. Especially Bose and Sony are battling tooth and nail to be number one in this field. But another competitor that coming up, is the Bowers & Wilkins PX7. Can these adaptive noise-canceling headphones beat the best noise-canceling headphones from Bose or Sony? Let’s look at the detail of the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 review now.
The beautiful design is a matter of taste, but in my thinking, the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 is beautiful and is not too dissimilar to the original PX series. The elliptical ear cups can cover all my ears with a large diameter of up to 43mm driver. The “Bowers & Wilkins” logo is clearly on the back of the cups, which look plain and nice. The B&W PX7 is a solid framework and fabric finish that give its look and feel a unique style and handsome. The PX7 uses carbon fiber and is a composite in the frame that makes the headphones more solid but lighter and comfier to wear.
Even though the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 is light but quite solid. Moreover; there is a hard case to protect the headphones in the package too. The design is quite bulky and can’t fold inside, so the PX7 is not convenient for taking on the go unless you’re willing to lose a lot of space in your bag for headphones and a hard case. Even though the headphones can’t be foldable, they can fold flat.
The Bowers & Wilkins PX7 is not a touch-control headphone. This is not a flaw, but I think it’s so good. Because in our way, swipe and touch control headphones, It’s more likely to go the wrong operation by miss touch.
On the right earcup, is the location of the control playback button (multi-function button), volume (+/-), and power slide button.
Multi-Function button
The Bowers & Wilkins PX7 are support high-quality codec, aptX adaptive, and aptX HD. Theoretically, more stability and less latency between the headphones and your Bluetooth devices (mobile, tablets, or laptops). Beyond this, the 24-bit high-quality streaming aptX-HD delivers a smoother and glitch-free experience. The sound output is very clear and crisp. While you move your phones or tablets, there are no hiccups or latency.
The PX7 offers adaptive noise cancellation, there are three levels of noise cancellation. On the left earcups, you can select low, medium, and high levels by cycling through by pressing the dedicated button.
In terms of noise cancellation, the PX7 is not the best. They still incompletely block outside noise and have only 3 levels of adaptive ANC. Unlike Bose N700 which offers 11 levels of ANC and completely blocks the outside sound from the world. The WH-1000X4 noise-canceling headphones from Sony still perform better in terms of noise cancellation. However; all are private opinions.
Pressing and holding the same button to activate the ambient pass-through feature. This feature lets you hear some external sounds for example surrounding environment, safety announcements on a train platform, or conversations with near people.
Give more convenience by wearing detect sensors in both earpieces. The music automatically pauses when you take the headphones off and automatically wakes and connects to the last connected Bluetooth device and resume when worn the headphones again.
The PX7 can connect up to two devices at the same time. The music will automatically pause when you receive a call. If ending the call the music will auto-resume.
These wireless Bluetooth headphones offer a robust battery. In the specs, the company claims the PX7 offer lasts up to 30 hours per charge. I am not sure about this, because not exactly a test. But it is long enough for four or five days (listening for around 5 – 6 hours per day). The playtime is depending on whether you turn on the ANC and Bluetooth or not. Because both features a pretty consume an amount of energy.

In my opinion, the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 offers a great sound quality that is undoubted, clean and has extreme clarity. The soundstage is expansive. The PX7 produces excellent detail and tonally balanced sound. These noise-canceling headphones give prioritize the rhythmic precise placement of each instrument’s sound. The bass is decent and balanced (substantial yet supple). Who those are love heavy bass people may want to look elsewhere.
Pros
Cons
I know the PX7’s price is quite expensive for some. But the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 offers great sound quality and good build quality, which is worth it for me. I so much like the stylish design of the PX7, nice and modern. while wearing the headphones for hours, I do not feel any fatigue in my ears and also do not feel any pressure around my ears. Adaptive noise cancellation is one of the things that I so much like.
