Marshall Stockwell ii – Portable Bluetooth Speaker
Bluetooth 5.0, playtime: >20 hours, fast charge: 20 minutes get 6 hours, water-resistant: IPX4 rating, multi-host: connect & switch between 2 Bluetooth devices, top-panel features analog control knobs: volume/bass/treble, multi-direction sound
Marshall, have reputable in sound gadgets like headphones and speakers for a long time. Especially, wireless Bluetooth speakers, many items are successful and quite popular in the market. I have reviewed many Marshall products like Marshall Stanmore ii, Marshall Kilburn ii, and Marshall Woburn ii. Another Marshall’s Bluetooth speaker that I have never written a review and I just test it for the last few days. Marshall Stockwell ii is one of the best Bluetooth speakers under 200 USD that I would like to recommend and review for you. This item is not the newest. And also it has reduced price in the last a few years. How about this Bluetooth speaker, let’s go to see it in this Marshall Stockwell ii review right now.
Key Design: Easy carrying by carrying strap, IPX4 water-resistant, retro design
Marshall Stockwell ii is not modern design, it’s quite retro. Available in black and black/brass colorway. It’s designed with a carry strap easy handle that feels solid and firm. There is a Marshall logo at the front of the speaker, which looks striking against the color of the steel metal grille of the speaker. Although the Marshall ii is designed to easy carrying with its handle. But its weight is 1.4kg, which is twice as heavy as Marshall Emberton. This weight is not too heavy if we’re going to carry it along on a long trip. But that depends on individual feelings as well.
Even though it is 1.4kg, but comes with solidity and durability. The company uses quality materials in its structure. They come with an IPX4 water-resistant rating, that can against splashes of water. However; the IPX4 has not protected them from hard rain. So if you want to take it outdoors, please check the weather before. Unlike Marshall Emberton, which is an IPX7 waterproof rating and is much better than Stockwell ii in this field.
If you need a lightweight portable speaker and prefer a modern design, look over to the Doss SoundBox Touch or OontZ Angle 3 portable speaker. I’m quite confident that Marshall Stockwell is not your answer.
There are features analog control knobs on the top of the speaker. Three dial control knobs are volume (which also be the power on/off too), bass, and treble control. Allowing you to fine-tune the bass and treble as you desire. Nearby the volume control knob is the Bluetooth pairing button and volume LED which light up red when turn on. And Nearby the treble control knob is the battery level indicator to let you conveniently check the remaining battery level of the speaker. All three control knobs feel a great tactile experience and are solid like many other Marshall speakers.
On the side of the speaker, there are the power input socket and AUX ports.
The Marshall claims that the Stockwell II offers more than twenty hours of playtime on a single charge and also has a super fast charge feature, just 20 minutes of top-up power to get up to 6 hours of battery life. That’s very good in terms of fast charging. The Marshall doesn’t exaggerate. They offer playtime of up to 6 hours when 20 minutes of charging. But everything depends on the volume level too. Louder volume, lesser playtime, this is regular for all wireless sound devices whether it’s headphones, speakers, or whatever that uses battery. It takes approximately 5 hours to fully charge. Another great and convenient is that you can quickly check the battery level at the top panel of the speaker. There is a battery level indicator light on the top.
The good thing is Marshall Stockwell ii utilized Bluetooth 5.0 which provides an operation range is up to 30 feet. It supports only standard codecs like SBC. Unfortunately, Marshall Stockwell ii is missing the aptX codec, which you can see this features in the higher price of Marshall such as Stanmore ii, Kilburn ii, and Woburn ii.
You can use a 3.5mm input for a direct AUX connection to your device if you desire. Marshall Stockwell also has multi-host features, which means you can easily connect and switch between two Bluetooth devices.
Thank the StereoPhonic sound technology, which makes the Stockwell ii can broadcast sound from every angle. Or the other words, you will get to experience absolute 360° sound where every spot is a sweet spot.
The sound output can reach the listener from any angle. Marshall Stockwell ii’s sound is not so big and doesn’t not too small as well. It delivers a good dynamic. The treble is very good, clear, and adjustable. The mids are just decent. Bass is adjustable but with a low limit of 60Hz, so you will not feel strenuous and thumping through your bone. You will not hear any very low bass. It’s not a giant bass due to its size, but the depth and richness of the bass are amazing. The Stockwell ii is decent for general listening but not for those who are like super-strong bass.
Overall in the sound performance, Marshall Stockwell ii is good decent. It’s a bit weak on the bass but adjustable. The highs are good and give all details. The mids are just decent and well-balanced. It also has amazing surround effects and is basically a 360-degree speaker.

Pros
Cons
It’s a good Bluetooth speaker for under 200 USD. The design is quite retro but classic. The sound quality is good in general genres of music. You can fine-tune the bass and treble via the physical control knobs on the top. This is not the loudest speaker that I had ever for its price, but it is very loud for casual listening. The playtime of this item is quite good, 20+ hours enough for all day while working. The most impressive thing is the fast charging feature. Marshall Stockwell ii gives up to 6 hours of playtime for charging only 20 minutes, wow!
Finally, till the end of Marshall Stockwell ii, I hope this review will give good and useful information about this Bluetooth speaker, thank you for reading.
