Skullcandy Hesh ANC review: This is a great choice if you are looking for active noise-canceling headphones that are affordable. It’s a not-too-expensive, sleek, and smart design. The noise-canceling feature is quite good; it can block almost all outside noise, such as dogs, kids, or cars. They cancel out most of the background noise. The other great features are collapsible earcups to make them easily portable; voice assistant; tile tracking technology; quick charge; all day of playtime (22 hours); and they come with a beautiful drawstring bag to protect headphones from scratch or scrape. The sound quality is moderate for the price point. To sum up, I’m impressed.
Skullcandy Hesh ANC – wireless over-ear headphones
wireless, active noise-canceling, Tile finding headphones technology built-in, comfortable, 22 hours playtime, soft and padding earcups, foldable design, voice assistance
Nowadays, there are many wireless noise-canceling headphones, and it is difficult to decide which one is ideal for you. There are several prices for noise-canceling headphones like the Bose 700 that are higher than $300 at release, or some are cheaper ($200 to $300), such as the Sony WH-XB910N or the Sennheiser PXC 550 ii. Skullcandy just released the latest ANC headphones, the Skullcandy Hesh ANC, at an affordable price of under $150. If you are looking for active noise-canceling headphones and have a limited budget, let’s check out this Skullcandy Hesh ANC review. Are these affordable ANC headphones fit for you?
The Hesh ANCs’ overall design looks almost identical to the Skullcandy Crush Wireless. The outside of the earcup is flat and smooth; there are not any patterns. They have a sleek finish. The main housing is made of plastic. The Skullcandy Hesh ANC headphones are available in black, grey, and white.
The Skullcandy increases convenience for the Hesh ANC through the earcups that can swivel to lay flat. This lets them take up less space in my bag and allows for easy portability with a drawstring bag included in the package. Nevertheless, the drawstring pouch can’t protect the headphones from drops, but it can help protect these affordable ANC headphones from scratches, scrapes, or dust. The Skullcandy Hesh ANC is padded with thick memory foam on the earcups and a leather-like lining. Also, the headband is sufficiently padded to offer a comfortable feeling while wearing it. However, the padding under the headband is a bit thin, so some may feel uncomfortable during long listening sessions.
The Hesh ANC is designed well and has easy-press buttons. The control buttons are placed on the right earcup’s side panel. However, the volume control and track navigation buttons are the same buttons, which makes it easy to miss pressing. You may accidentally skip a track or skip back a track when you want to increase or decrease the volume. The middle button lets you play or pause songs as well as answer or end calls. This button is also the voice assistant control; you press it twice to activate the voice assistant. The circle button next to the plus button is the ANC control button, which also stays on the right earcup. You will hear a voice prompt when changing the ANC to on or off. Also, there is a light indicator that will turn on when the ANC feature is turned on.
When it comes to build quality, the Skullcandy Hesh ANC feels like the Hesh 3 wireless. They are lightweight, with the main construct being plastic. There is a thin metal frame inside the headband. However, they look fragile and not durable, and they can be broken up if dropped from a height. They also don’t mention the IP rating (water-resistant), so I think these wireless ANC headphones do not protect the water. It’s not an issue if you wear them in the building.
The sound quality is good when compared to others in the same price range. However, you cannot compare to some pricey headphones like the Bose QC45 or Jabra Elite 85H. But the Skullcandy Hesh ANC offers an amazing sound and is better than some cheaper headphones. They deliver a deep bass sound, an intense thump, and also a rumble. The vocals and instruments’ sounds are also bright. However, for some tracks, it looks like the sound is too harsh and piercing. Unfortunately, there are no sound enhancement features to customize the sound.

Pros
Cons
Before the end of the Skullcandy Hesh ANC review, these noise-canceling headphones are wireless over-ear, deliver decent sound quality, and have good noise cancellation for the price. Even though the build quality is not so strong due to most materials being plastic, the good thing is that they are lightweight and comfortable for a long listening session. The battery life is quite good; the company claims it lasts up to 22 hours. But from our testing, it’s not always certain, depending on the volume level you’re listening to. Overall, if you use 50% of the volume level, the Skullcandy Hesh ANC can offer playtime of up to 21 to 22 hours.
