Sennheiser HD 450BT Review – Best Affordable Over-Ear Sennheiser Headphones

Sennheiser HD 450BT Review – Final words

Sennheiser HD 450BT review: A moderately good active noise cancellation headphone but excellent Bluetooth audio. These cans offer wireless on-the-go play for up to 30 hours of playtime. The sound quality is also good, with deep bass. The mids are clear and full. The treble is not too high or sharp. However, you can adjust the EQ setting in the Sennheiser Smart Control app.

Although Sennheiser isn’t a top brand in terms of noise-canceling headphones like Sony or Bose, the Sennheiser HD 450BT is a cool active noise-canceling headphone as well. There are several great features, for example, being lightweight, foldable, Bluetooth 5.0, having a long battery life of up to 30 hours, fast charging, and also having a voice assistant feature. Let’s go into detail about how well these Sennheiser headphones perform in the Sennheiser HD 450BT review.

Sennheiser HD 450BT Review – The Design

During the first week of wearing these headphones, I could feel the clamping force that the HD 450BT offers in exchange for a perfect fit. After almost a week of continuously using them, the headphones become looser, and I can wear them for hours each time without any pain or stress around the temples again.

The design is somewhat simple but looks quite stylish. If you don’t like flashy designs and over-color headphones, you’ll probably like the design of the Sennheiser HD 450BT. The outer part of the earcup is smooth and without any pattern. There are only white and black. If you choose black, you will get all-black headphones. Both the earcups and the headband. There is a Sennheiser logo on the headband, but it’s not very noticeable because the color of the logo and headband is slightly different. But if you choose white, you get two-tone headphones. That means the main housing is white, but both ear cushions are chic silver-gray. And the headband looks outstanding in two-tone. Personally, I prefer white.

They are designed to be on the go; they can be folded; and they are easy to contain in a backpack and travel with you anywhere. Thanks to the fully foldable design and the carrying case, you can use a minimum amount of room in the bag.

The majority of materials are plastic, and that’s why these Sennheiser headphones are rather light. For these reasons, the Sennheiser HD 450BT is ideal for travel.

The Control Button & Charging Port

The controls are placed on the bottom of the right earcups. The USB-C charging port, a physical button for music playback control, and call control. Besides, you can control voice assistants, whether Google Assistant or Siri, on the right cups.

Long Battery Life

The Sennheiser HD 450BT offers great playtime, which is up to 30 hours, and a full charge time of only 2 hours via a USB-C charging port. In terms of battery life, these Sennheiser HD 450BT headphones can beat the best ANC headphones like Bost QC35 ii and Bost 700, which both offer a battery life of only 20 hours. However, if you are looking for wireless over-ear headphones with a better battery, try the Tozo HT2 Hybrid ANC wireless over-ear headphones, which provides up to 60 hours of playtime.

You can view the battery status on the Sennheiser Smart Control app. With the app, you can do what is needed, including adjusting the equalizer and performing firmware updates.

Sennheiser HD 450BT Review – Great Built and Features

With aptX Low Latency, the Sennheiser HD 450BT offers less than 40 ms of latency. That means you can wear these headphones for watching TV or playing games without any lag. Active noise cancellation is one of the great features of these Sennheiser headphones. Even though it can’t beat the top-rated ANC headphones like the Bose 700 or Sony WH-1000XM4, for these headphones you must pay more. However, the Sennheiser HD 450BT can still block some noise. They can block noise that is not very loud, such as background talking or sound from the TV that is not very loud.

They are not very good noise-canceling headphones. So, if you are serious about active noise cancellation, these Sennheiser headphones are not for you. You should look for other great ANC headphones such as Sennheiser Momentum 4, Srhythm N75 Pro, or Bowers & Wilkins PX8.

The Sound Quality

The output of the HD 450BT is a smooth, rich balance that lets you enjoy the music. They deliver deep, dynamic bass and emphasize bass in all its forms. The mids are clear and full, and the treble is rolled off slightly. However, fortunately, you can refine all this to some degree with the equalizer via the Sennheiser Smart Control app. Listen and judge for yourself.

  • Decent sound quality
  • Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX LL and AAC

Cons

  • ANC is not very good

Sennheiser HD 450BT Review – Final Verdict

Even though the Sennheiser HD 450BT is not the best in terms of sound quality and active noise canceling features, the design is chic and supremely comfortable for long listening to music sessions. If you want to pay less than $200 and you are not an audiophile that needs high-end headphones, the Sennheiser HD 450BT also gives sound good enough. The best point probably is the long-life battery, that of up to 30 hours for one charge. All in all the Sennheiser HD 450BT is good enough for their price, but the price may be a little expensive cause of the Sennheiser brand. Thanks for reading till to the end of the Sennheiser HD 450BT review. Thank you.
