Marshall Motif Review – True Wireless ANC Earbuds

Marshall Motif Review – Short words

Marshall Motif review: Overall sound quality is good and suits their price. The Marshall Motif ANC delivers good audio performance bass, mids, and highs are so good and well-balanced. Although the sound is pretty towards the strong bass, the mids range and highs range is not too weak. Both are clear and good detailed. They also come with active noise cancellation and transparency mode, which is not so good but not too bad as well. Besides, the Marshall Motif also has EQ presets in the app. The design is an individual opinion that might be different. But for me, the Marshall Motif’s design is not very admirable, but compact design and easy to take on the go.

In the market of wireless earbuds, Apple AirPods Pro always stands at the top of the rankings as well as Sony, Bose, and Sennheiser. Even though Marshall is not the best brand in the field of wireless earbuds, Marshall’s reliability still remains powerful. I believe that many people are well known this brand, which is the creator of great audio equipment for decades like speakers, headphones, or even true wireless earbuds. Today the Marshall product I will talking is the Marshall Motif true wireless NC earbuds. Let’s go to the Marshall Motif review either.

Marshall Motif Review – The Design

Marshall Motif True Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones

Marshall is leading heavily its rock and roll heritage. The Marshall Motif’s charge case has a scratch-proof vinyl surface and a textured pairing button in front. Its case is pretty small and compact so it easy to put in your pants. The earbud’s stems are clearly inspired by the knobs of old-school Marshall amplifiers. Both the charging case and earbuds have got a rough matte surface that I found the grip of the earbuds extremely well. When the Marshall Motif earbuds stay in my ears, they firmly stay in place and never feel like they are going to slip out. Unlike some wireless earbuds that always start slipping and will start shifting out of place when I start to walk, talk, or even eat, that way it loses its noise-canceling.

Secure Fit and Great for Working Out

Marshall Motif Review

What also helps with stability is the way the Marshall Motifs are tapered, which let they can put in the ears very well and securely. They feel moderate fit in the ears without ever feeling too tight. That makes me quite confident while exercising with these Marshall Motif wireless earbuds. That means you can wear the Marshal Motif wireless earbuds to work out. Another good thing is the earbuds have IPX5 water-resistant and the charging case has IPX4. If you ever get caught in the rain, there is very little to worry about.

These Marshall wireless earbuds run on Bluetooth 5.2 to any standard AAC and SBC audio codecs. It also has a single earbud that can use for phone calls and music, whether it be the left or right earbud. They are also supported wireless charging. When it comes to battery life, the Marshall Motiv provides about 4.5 hours for a single charge on earbuds with turn-on ANC. If including the charging case, they provide up to 20 hours.

Smart Touch Control and Great App

They have got simple tap controls that let you go through noise canceling and transparency modes as well as music playback and call controls as well. There is no volume control in the touch control. So you can have to rely on your phone for that. The earbuds do have app support and a big plus in the app is the Marshall Bluetooth app lets you customize its touch control. And also how much noise-canceling and transparency you want, you can adjust it via the app.

Besides, its sound quality using EQ presets is pretty good, whether it be the classic Marshall tuning or pop electrics, or whatever the case may be. But it does not have a customizable graphic EQ, which is sad because usually, it is quite a fun thing to do to try to tweak the sound quality to my own tastes. But I guess Marshall is not ready to seed that type of control to us.

Marshall Motif Review – Decent Battery Life

What’s also a little disappointing is its battery life. These Marshall Motif provide up to 4.5 hours in the earbuds and up to 20 hours with the case. This would have been decent in 2018 but in 2022 it doesn’t quite measure up to the competition from the likes of Jabra or Sony which averages out at about 6.8 hours in the earbuds and 24 hours or more in the case.

Marshall Motif True Wireless Earbuds – The Sound Quality

Where to buy Marshall Motif

When talking about the sound quality of the Marshall Motif, they don’t disappoint. I got the familiar glowy Marshall voice from the Marshall Motif that I have also enjoyed from their headphones. It is 6mm driver’s rich, punchy upper bass with nice extension and decay right down to the sub-bass range-based reverb glowing into the vocals range while keeping track separation on point. So it’s got that golden sound signature clean and detailed midrange that sounds will be emphasized without being too bright or brittle and smooth, crispy sounding travel.

Overall the Marshall Motif’s sound quality is pretty smooth and energetic. And if you have had your own Marshalls before these are going to sound very familiar. Of course.

If you compared them to the Sony WF-1000XM4, these seem to be more boosted in the base while being tuned to a flatter response curve. So there’s going to be more emphasis across the mids and highs. Making the Marshall Motif sound more laid back. In comparison to the WF-1000XM4 is one of the key difference between them is The Sony WF-1000XM4 sound more, which is beneficial if you are an audiophile listening to hi-res music, which is after all that the Sony’s are designed for. But the Marshall Motif does have a more exciting voice, even having some graininess and reverb thrown in to evoke the rock and roll feeling. If you are not a critical listener, the Marshall Motif wireless earbuds are going to rock your boat weight I think meant to float your boat. But you get the idea right now.

Marshall Motif Review – The Call Quality

The call quality of Marshall Motif is quite decent in the quiet condition though. My voice sounded a bit more brittle than the Sony’s. When I’m in a noisy environment, my voice still sounded louder than Sony’s. It struggled a lot with the background noise. In my opinion, the Sony WF-1000XM4 sounded cleaner in noisy conditions. But what do you guys think, to leave your comment below?

How does transparency Marshall Motif?

I think the Marshall Motif is all right in the transparency feature. They do have a bit of this. So it? The sound is not as pure as the sunrise or the airport’s transparency but is very usable.

Marshall Motif Review – Noise Cancelling

Marshall Motif wireless ANC earbuds

The Marshall Motif wireless earbuds are pretty effective at canceling low frequencies. Some mid-range noise will still get through. However; the Marshall Motif still will bring some peace and quiet on the bus, train, the cafe. But of course, Sony’s our way ahead in terms of noise cancellation. You are simply going to get more silence from Sony’s powerful active noise-canceling. But the right sizes of the foam tips of the Marshall Motif provide some extra attenuation which makes it more effective against background chatter.
