Sonos is a leading company in home audio from the USA, and all of their products are of great quality. One of Sonos’s products, the Sonos Move is a high-end portable Bluetooth speaker with 25 watts and an IP65 for water and dust resistance. It provides very excellent sound quality whether indoor or outdoor. Good and clean treble, full and perfect mids, powerful and deep bass. Surely, the Sonos brand is not a cheap speaker. Let’s see the portable speaker by Sonos, Should be buying it? Go to the details of this speaker in the Sonos Move review.

Portable Design?

Sonos Move Review

The Sonos Move is designed to simplistic and modern shape, a cylinder shape. It comes with a wireless charging base. You can buy the Sonos Move to be seamlessly placed in the living room or bedroom. It can be used to decorate homes and look more modern.

Is it easy to portable? The answer is like its name, Sonos Move, which is super portable. Its size is not bulky and has a built-in battery that can provide approximately up to 11 hours of playtime. You can handle it with one hand, due to the design with a hollow part at the back. Even though the weight is not quite light, 6.6 pounds or 3 kgs. But it’s not too heavy for carrying the speaker to have fun on the front lawn. However; if you think the Sonos Move is too big and a bit heavy weight, try to see the Sonos Roam or the Sonos Roam SL, which may be more suited for you.

Sonos Move Review – Build Quality

Sonos Move Portable Speaker

Neat design and build, and it looks very nice too. The exterior material is the grille which wraps around the entire thing. Except for the top, bottom, and back, which all are made of plastic. But the bottom of the speaker looks similar to more rubberized than the plastic, which helps it protect from scratch, making it harder for scratching. Besides, it also provides extra good grip too.

The Sonos Move speaker has a rating of IP56 waterproof and dustproof build and the Sonos also claims that this can is also shockproof too. An IP56 waterproof rating is can against direct contact slightly water. It can’t survive submerged or soaked with a lot of water. Hence; be careful if you use the Sonos Move outdoors, and avoid if the weather tends to heavy rain.

The Control Button

There are touch-sensitive control systems on the top of the speaker that work very well. However, the control scheme is not quite straightforward but not too difficult to understand. The play/pause icon is okay but the volume icons do not use the universal signal ‘+” and ‘-‘. It is a foud-dotted icon located on the left (for volume down) and right (for volume up) of the play/pause icon. For skipping to the next and back to the previous song use the swipe method. Swipe left to right through the play/pause icon to go to the next track. On the other hand, swipe right to left to go to the previous song. Hmm, that makes sense.

The Sonos Move doesn’t have RGB lights, and it has only a small LED light that provides status information on the speaker. In my own opinion, it’s hard to use the speaker in a dark place or environment. You hardly see the control buttons which leads to easily mistake pressing.

All physical buttons and a USB-C charging port are located on the rear. There is a power button, a Bluetooth/WiFi toggle that is a tinny button, a connect button, and the last is a USB-C charging port, respectively.

Bluetooth and WiFi

The Sonos Move is designed to use both Bluetooth and WiFi, which is great. I believe that most users will be taking advantage of the Wi-Fi connectivity. Because that is what Sonos is well known for. The Sonos Move is a steppe-up with uses Bluetooth technology. However; the Sonos Move will be better when it uses Wi-Fi technology. The Wi-Fi range is much longer than Bluetooth. The Wi-Fi allows Sonos Move speakers to play music directly from the internet and doesn’t need Bluetooth. But you need to use the Sonos app, which is very useful. The Sonos app is also available on both iOS and Android. But Bluetooth is still good and helps you listen to music if you are in an area not provide internet.

Sonos Move Bluetooth Speaker Review – Battery Life

Sonos Move Speaker

For a single full charge, the Sonos Move lasts for around 10 hours. It provides two ways to charge, USB-C (not included) and a charging dock (included). The speaker will go into sleep mode after no activity for a while. You also can force it to sleep mode by pressing the power button for one. The battery kits can buy more instead of the original battery when it wears out or deterioration.

Sonos Move Portable Speaker – Great Sound Quality

Where to buy Sonos Move speaker

The Sonos Move portable speaker delivers amazing sound. The bass is prominent even if you place the speaker outdoors. It can be really loud if you want and the sound output without ever getting distorted. The Sonos Move speaker can produce beautiful sounds and is very well-balanced at lows. These portable speakers also offer amazing mids and treble sound. They provide sound uniform across the entire side and forward shot. The sound quality is beautifully detailed and realistic sound.

The manufacturer is proud to present the Auto Trueplay features of the Sonos Move. This feature will automatically reproduce and optimize audio based on the position of the speaker you placed in the room. If you move the speaker, it recalibrates itself and optimizes audio. Trueplay makes sure it always sounds the best. It can really be done like that and very well too. I moved the Sonos Move speaker to another position in my home as well as move it to the front porch, and within 20 to 30 seconds the speaker fixed itself and the sound came back great again.

When talking about the soundstage, the Sonos Move provides just a mediocre soundstage, which is normal for mono speakers. But the directivity is quite impressive for not 360-degree speakers.
