Sony WH-CH710N Review – The Design

In terms of designs, there is a lot to like about the Sony WH-CH710N, they are a relatively slim feel for a pair of over-ear headsets and the all matte black finish looks pretty awesome. They are the type of headsets you’d wear on public transports without drawing huge attention and while they surely could be a little more form-fitting, they are surely not the bulkiest on our Sony WH-CH710N review bench.

Put them on and you will be amazed at how light they’re- weighing in at 223 grams, they do not put big pressure on your head when wearing them though the drawback is that they are mostly plastic build and the padding is minimal.

On the right ear cup, you will find your basic control keys for volume and pause/play, plus a button that controls ANC and ambient sound, 2 features we will talk about more in brief. You can hold the mid key to bring up an assistant, but you would not be capable to activate just by saying OK Google or Hey Siri as neither comes built into the headsets.

On the left ear cup is a 3.5 mm, pairing/power button, and a Type-C port that is utilized for charging.

The headphones do not come with a hard case that makes them less suitable for frequent travelers or nor do they come with a charging brick, inside the package the only accessories you will find are a super short USB to USD type C wire and an auxiliary wire.

Most folks will likely connect them using the power key when they initially turn them on, but the WH-CH710N does support NFC function too that’s best for newer android devices and the headsets use Bluetooth 5.0 with support of ACC and SBC codecs.

Disappointingly they do not look to support APTX or LDAC – which means you do not get Hi-Res Audio support.

Sony WHCH710N Noise Cancelling Headphones – The Sound

Well, my first impression during the Sony WH-CH710N review, sound quality that it sounded simple to listen and energetic too. They did not overwhelm me with bass and I thought I heard a fine and clear mid-range and rolled off the treble.

Though, after listening to them for long 8hrs a day, that opinion started to change. Music that sounded a bit energetic and was simply to listen to slowly started to lose its peak. By listening to it critically, some considerable differences in sound come to light.

In essence, they did not provide the wide sound image that some cans with open blocks, for instance, would provide and they normally lacked clarity.

Sony WH-CH710N

That is probably because Sony WH-CH710N’s are not Hi-Res Audio headsets and they do not support several HD codecs – the exception, surely, is ACC. If you do not need top clarity, you probably would not mind their sound, but if you are a huge fan of clarity, you will undoubtedly hear the drawbacks.

We utilized the headsets to have many conversations with family and friends during our Sony WH-CH710N review, and most looked to agree that though they’d hear us easily, the mic on the headphones did not sound as find as the speaker or the mobile held directly to our ear.

Equally disappointing was the case that their actual ANC is not the finest we have ever heard. It is more like sound reduction than outright ANC and is nowhere close to class leaders like WH-1000XM3 and WH-XB900N.

That is a little to be expected in this price tag – but if you need complete silence, the Sony WH-CH710N would not provide you that. The fine thing them, although it is that they do adapt to altering conditions – 1 minute they can block out the boring of the boom of lawnmower and the next minute they can focus on the vocal of a high range ten years old without having to recalibrate. So that is pretty clear.

  WH-CH710N Review – Features

  • Supreme controls – the Sony WH-CH710N have an efficient and simple control scheme. The well-made buttons are situated below the ear cups. These provide call/music, volume, and skip controls also the power and ANC allowing buttons laid out right across the 2 ear cups. Several people will also likely favor their tactile, clickable buttons to the touch-sensitive feature of some other options like WH-1000XM3 headphones.
  • Decent Noise Handling – the noise handling of this headphone’s mic is mediocre. They are finest suited to quiet environments as they will struggle to completely separate speech from ambient sound even in moderately loud areas.
  • Bass Accuracy – the accuracy of bass is good. There is a bit of additional thump to the bass, but it would not sound muddy. Low bass, responsible for the whole body of bass guitars and the super punch of kick drums, is balanced and flat. Extreme bass, responsible for warmth is also flat and well balanced. Overall, the bass of the headphone is deep, without sounding muddy.

Should you buy Sony WH-CH710N?

Sony WHCH710N review

If you want the finest pair of ANC headphones around, then no you should not buy these, but I recommend Bose QC35 ii which is one of the best noise-canceling over-ear headphones. Instead, you’d go with the other options.

The absence of LDAC support, the cheaper plastic build, a little bit low clear sound, and the lack of swipe gestures means that they cannot dethrone their big brother for that position.

Still, if you have a limited budget to spend on headphones, then these will get the work done. They’ve fine ANC, comfortable padding, and big battery life. While these are not must purchase by any means, they are real contenders for anybody with a budget under 200 USD.

Sony WH-CH710N Review – Final words

After the Sony WH-CH710N review, these are alright headphones for mixed usage performance. While they can be a decent option for commuting or workplace use thanks to their comfortable look and big battery life, unfortunately, the sound is less clear and ANC is working fine and plastic build might not be the best one and Sony WH-CH710N likely are not great enough to utilize while working out.
