2. Focal Clear Review – Best Headphones Under $2000
Focal is not a new brand when it comes to premium headphones. It is a reputable brand, which has its headquarters in France. They are in the industry for the last 40 years.
The Focal offers numerous wireless headphones and also in-ear ones and the range of the Focal-Clear headphones is its new launch. This product would cost come at a very expensive. However; due to these headphones delivering excellent sound quality and very great built quality, I think that these headphones suits be the best headphones under 2000 dollars. It is the best-in-class product as far as sound and ergonomics are concerned.
You’ve probably seen pictures of Focal Clear on the internet that are very beautiful. But if you’ve seen the real touch these headphones are extremely detailed and most gorgeous work. No, I didn’t buy Focal Clear, it’s more very expensive than my salary many times. I had been trying the best headphones under $2000, which is Focal Clear, for once, at my cousin’s home. I have to say that “the headphones are very exquisite and neat build quality and offer excellent sound quality”. I try to write the Focal Clear review as well as I can for the reader’s benefit and have the best information for a decision about Focal Clear Open Circumaural high-fidelity headphones.
Focal Clear Review – The Design
Once the Focal Clear headphones are placed in my hand, the first feel is weight. They are quite heavy. So, they are not ideal for outdoor, you should listen to music from them at home or in the studio.
One thing that kicks my eyes is the mesh grill on the exterior of the earcups, which audiophile-grade open-back style similar to the Sennheiser HD 660 S. The earcups use micro-fiber material with perforations for cooling. So you can wear these headphones for a couple of hours without too overheating. Unlike the Elegia, which uses the same material to make earcups, with not perforating the micro-fiber.
The headbands use premium leather wrapped around them, they make me feel super comfy when they are on my head.
Focal Clear – Comfort?
Although they are very comfy and soft touch, the weight is quite heavy (nearly a pound), and far weightier than most audiophiles headphones. If you are a small head, it may be quite heavy too. Thus, for women (most have a small head), I recommend that should limit the time frame for wearing these audiophile headphones (less than 2 hours be the best).
Yes, it’s quite heavy, but the Focal Clear is very comfy to wear. Thank the perforated earpads that let to maximize ventilating while sweaty ears. Besides, the cups are padded with soft cushions, which greatly reduces the pressure around the ears and is well shockproof.
The Sound Quality
Frankly, I’m not an audiophile but when I wear these headphones and hear the sound out from these open-back headphones, Oh my god! The sound is very clear and something that calls is soundstage is very good.
The Clear’s bass is near-neutral and extends fairly deep. The mids and highs are extremely perfect balance-sounding.
The Focal Clear are high-end headphones that require high-power amplified equipment. So to receive maximum efficiency, you’ll need a headphone amp with enough high power to drive it. To get the most perfect sound.
Unfortunately, I didn’t notice which brand/model of headphone amp my cousins use. Because they have set up completely already. I just try to wear the headphones and was amazing to have the great experience of listening to music with the Focal Clear Headphones.
Features to look out for:
- It has an excellent build and is made up of an aluminum yoke, perforated microfiber, leather headband, and 20mm memory foam material ear cushion which is covered with a perforated microfiber cloth.
- There is a mechanism for locking the jack for the jack sockets that are 3.5 mm in size.
- Low impedance, which is used to match the varying source devices.
- Extremely comfortable to wear even if you want to keep it on for long hours.
- Focal Clear headphones come with a hard shell carry case.
- With the Focal-Clear headphones, you get a perfectly balanced sound with tight bass and smooth highs.
Focal Clear Review – Pros & Cons

- It improves on Elear’s original formula and makes a lot of differences in the quality of audio to matter.
- It comes with lots of accessories and the packet includes one classy carry case.

5. Sony MDR-Z1R Signature – Absolutely Impressive Closed-Back Headphones Under $2000
This is Sony’s flagship model, the Sony MDR-Z1R Signature. There are two versions, MDR-Z1R (made in Japan) and MDR-Z1R WW2 (international version). Both prices are quite different. The MDR-Z1R WW2 is cheaper than about $250 to $300. I honestly admit that I didn’t buy it because the price is too expensive for me. But I have tried to use the Sony MDR-Z1R for a few hours when I go to California. It belongs to a relative in CA that I borrowed to try to test and listen to pieces of music. because I want to know what they said, is the Sony MDR-Z1R Signature hi-res headphones really that cool or not? This is the information of the Sony MDR-Z1R Signature review that just are my impressions, opinions, and experiences for around three hours with them.
Sony MDR-Z1R Review – Build and Design to Most Comfortable
Premium material with elegant looks in black styles. Sure, they are highly outstanding looks, unique, and very eye-catching. They are pretty big like the Sennheiser HD800 S. They are quite weight, 385 grams, and more weight than HD800 S, which is just only 328 grams. As usual, high-end headphones are more heavy compared to normal over-ear headphones. But it’s not too heavy for me. Personally, it’s very lightweight and extremely comfortable. As well as, it’s not clamping on the temples area too.
For around three hours that the Sony MDR-Z1R Signature headphones are stay on my head, I didn’t find fatigue on my ears or heavy around the neck at all. So I think long listening sessions are easy. The earcups are circle shape and large with large earpads and also very soft. The earpads are made of genuine sheepskin earpads (this one, I found information from the website because I didn’t know what animal skin it was after touching it). The headband is titanium and covered with genuine leather, which is light, sturdiness, comfortable, and flexible.
A good start with a unique look and feels, very good build quality with high-grade materials, and luxurious. The Sony MDR-Z1R headphones are fantastic and comfortable without feeling heavy or fatigued at all, even though I wear them for around three hours.
Sony MDRZ1R Signature Headphones – In the box and cables
No matter what the material is, as you know, it’s very comfortable to wear. When listening to music these Sony MDR-Z1R Signature headphones, honestly, I don’t want to take them off.
I see the box that comes with these best headphones under $2000, it’s very luxurious indeed. It’s a black rectangular box. The Sony provides two cables in the box.
The first is a headphone cable (3 meters), which is a silver-coated OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper) Conductor, gold-plated stereo mini plug. Private thinking, this cable is too long and it feels messy but it doesn’t get tangled easily. But it is useful that the connection distance to your device can be up to 3 meters.
The second is a balanced connection headphone cable (1.2 meters), silver-coated OFC standard with an L-shaped gold-paged balanced standard plug. Both are detachable.
I know the silver-coated OFC cables are useful to reduce resistance and signal-transmission loss. The result is less sound degradation, finer detail as well as more smooth treble range. I don’t know how to say but it feels very excellent sound output and seems to live up to what Sony claims.
Sony MDR-Z1R Review – The Sound Quality
I love listening to music but am not a music analyst or audiophile. Hence this topic is very hard for my writing.
At first impression, the Sony MDR-Z1R Signature headphones provide a fantastic sound stage and are also amazing. Large, high, wide, and deep sound stage all at the same time. They are one best closed-back with excellent sound stages.
The bass is quite big but not too boomy and also full sounding, it has full-body bass. There are sub-bass and mid-bass that are good, powerful, and deep.
The mids are extremely clear, full, and absolutely cheerful. The high is so crisp and does not deliver pierce your eardrums.
All in all, the Sony MDR-Z1R gives an excellent sound signature but may not be for truly sound purists. I think these best Sony headphones under $2000 are great for listening to many popular kinds of music from Spotify, TIDAL, Youtube, etc. As I said before, I’m not an audiophile or sound purist, but the Sony MDR-Z1R produces very impressive sound performance, it’s really excellent.
All of this information about the MDR-Z1R’s sound quality is just a personal opinion, which may be different for other listeners, especially listeners who are sound purists. But after just three hours with it, I fall in love with these best headphones under 2000 USD. Ha ha, pity I can’t buy them due to budget issues.
