Altec Lansing LifeJacket 2
Bluetooth, wireless, waterproof & dustproof: IP67, floating design, battery life: up to 30 hours of playtime, built-in power bank, hands-free speaker, mountable, NFC
The Altec Lansing LifeJacket II is octagonal, like a brick, and weighs 2 pounds. Easy to hold in hand and portable design. Their size is not enormous, but also not pocket-sized. This portable speaker can be mounted to a bicycle and taken on the go. It comes with IP67 waterproof and dustproof, which means it can repel water, dust, snow, sand, and dirt and survive in various situations. The speaker can float in the water, so it is ideal for poolside parties.
It is tough and well-defended. As I said before, the Altec Lansing LifeJacket 2 can be floated in the water. Even though it floated in the pool, the connection is still alive, and music is also still playing. With an IP67 waterproof rating, so don’t need to worry about rain. Also, you can wash them with water if you make them dirty with sauce.
A U-clamp and bracket are included to enable mounting of the speaker to almost any bar. When I went, I had no trouble at all tying it to the boat. The speaker weighs 1.6 pounds, and even though I think the bracket will keep the speaker in place, frequent vibration, such as on a bike, will cause the speaker to shift out of the bracket and no longer point in the direction you intended. The assembly was simple enough to understand, and although the bracket is a wonderful idea, I’m still not sure it won’t budge. If there is a strong vibration, like during motocross or bicycling.
There is a power switch and volume control on the speaker. The buttons feel like a thin rubber coating, but they seem to operate well enough and accurately. For how to pair and connect to your smartphones. Just put your mobile phone on top of the speaker, and it will automatically pair through NFC. There is voice confirmation to let you know when it is pairing, turning on, or going off.
Unfortunately, you can’t control playback on the speaker. Meaning there is no play, pause, next track, or previous track on the speaker. However, you can still control playback, which is available via Bluetooth connectivity through your smartphone. I hope the company will fix it in the next version.
The Altec Lansing LifeJacket 2 has a built-in Bluetooth feature that provides 33 feet, or 10 meters, of work distance (as per manufacturer specs). This Bluetooth range is just standard; it’s not surprising.
The built-in rechargeable battery provides up to 30 hours of listening time. The charging method is just plugging in a USB cable (included in the box) into the speaker. Furthermore, the Altec Lansing LifeJacket 2 speaker is also a built-in power bank that can charge mobile phones or other electronic devices that utilize the USB charging method. You can charge your devices even while playing music.

The LifeJacket 2 Bluetooth speaker offers quite good sound for its size. It’s pretty loud. Everyone who heard this speaker was awestruck by the sound it produced. Sure, it won’t make your chest vibrate with bass, but with this small size, it still performs to exceed expectations. This portable Bluetooth speaker provides decent sound quality but is not excellent. I do not expect to compare this to high-end speakers like Marshall portable speakers or Edifier, which are mostly bookshelf speakers, not portable.
