Edifier S1000W Review – Highly Versatile Bluetooth Speakers

Edifier is a famous brand for its bookshelf speakers line. I had never been disappointed with the Edifier speaker’s quality, even S3000Pro, S2000MKII, or even R1850DB. The Edifier S1000W is as well. They are audiophile active bookshelf speakers that come with 120W (RMS) and deliver excellent sound quality. They have the elegant looks of classic wood.

The Edifier S1000W can do-it-all or it is a versatile speaker, no matter watching movies or listening to music. This high-end wireless Bluetooth speaker gives an excellent experience and takes you immersed in music and movies.

Edifier S1000W Review – The Design

Unique and stylish design, decorate with beautiful wood, real wood on the both left and right sides. The “Floating Black Grille” design which nice comely contrasts with the real wood and look gorgeous. The company designed the speakers to lean backward, which is not like the S3000 Pro or S2000 MKIII where the speakers are upright. I’m not sure about the purpose of this design. Maybe for beauty and uniqueness. The overall design looks pseudo-retro style and feels elegant. It is bulky and pretty heavyweight, so the S1000W is not for portability.

The Edifier S1000W comes with remote control for more convenient use, which is like other high-end Edifier speakers (S3000 Pro or S2000MKII). The remote receiver is located on the right speaker and receives a signal very well. All you need is to point the remote at the right speaker.

Audiophile Active Bookshelf 2.0 Speakers – Controls and Connectivities

When coming to the rear of the right speaker, you will see the control knobs and connectivities: volume dial, treble and bass control knob, power switch, 2 RCA inputs, coaxial and optical port, and L speaker out port. That connection pretty much covers all connections including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth too. A bit pitty, there is no HDMI connectivity but optical input can work fine so long as you don’t need 3D sound for watching movies from TV.

As mentioned before, there is a remote control for all functions. Besides, you can control the speaker via the Edifier Home app for most of your needs. The app is necessary for Wi-Fi settings, so if you want to use Wi-Fi you have to download the app and update the firmware around 10 minutes (for the first). All steps are easy, just follow simple instructions.

However; if you are tech-averse, the S1000W can work without downloading the Edifier Home app. But you can use the speaker via only hardwired inputs.

If you have multiple rooms in your home and want to add more Wi-Fi-capable Edifier speakers to another room and control these via the app as well. The Edifier Home app work like a hub for controlling all edifier speaker that is all compatible.

Edifier S1000W Review – Build Quality

The S1000W cabinet is quite heavy and big, so these bookshelf Bluetooth speakers are not ideal for portable. The body quality is very great for the price, luxurious, and gives a strong, durable feel. Neat design in all detail. The wood that covered the speaker makes they are luxurious and retro. The company uses good materials and did not skimp on materials or build quality in the cabinet.

Included remote control works well. Looks more elegant and stable than the R1700BT’s model. I don’t sure about the remote’s material, feel as if aluminum but has a little weight to it.

The cable included in the package is of high quality, including Toslink optical cable, Aux to RCA cable, and RCA cable.

Edifier S1000W WiFi Hi-Fi Bookshelf Speakers  – The Sound Quality

According to specs, the S1000W has 120W power output by features a 5.5″ aluminum woofer (35W x 2 for bass and mid-range), and a 1″ titanium dome tweeter (25W x 2 for treble). The titanium dome tweeter is better in terms of dispersion and sensitivity when compared to plastic tweeters in some bookshelf speakers. The Edifier S1000W delivers minimal distortion and heavy strong bass. However; the overall sound leans toward the natural, which is great for all genres.

The trebles, mids, and bass blend together wonderfully. The highs are not shrill, excellent-sounding mid-range, and the bass is deep and strong. The S1000W speakers do get quite loud.

The Edifier S1000W speaker has a built-in amplifier and features 24-bit/192kHz hi-res audio, which produces sound great. Even though your sound source is digital input or streaming over Wi-Fi, the output is also hi-res and has minimal distortion.

The S1000W is compatible with a wide range of devices such as laptops, DVD players, Turntables, TV, or MP3/MP4 players. But you need to make sure your devices have ports that are compatible with the S1000W (most of them are compatible). Or if it’s Bluetooth devices, there should be no issues.

Like many previous headphones reviews and speakers reviews, the sound quality is personal feeling and thinking. So each person’s definition of “Great Sound Quality” may not be the same or different. And the Edifier S1000W’s sound performance that wrote above is my own feeling as well.

I know, they are not cheap bookshelf speakers, but the S1000W will supply a satisfying sound for most people. Neat design and construction make them look elegant in your room. The Edifier S1000W is one of the best wireless Bluetooth bookshelf speakers for under $500. They utilize Bluetooth 5.0 with Hi-Res audio technology lets easily connect to your devices, and are compatible with iOS, Android, Mac, or Windows and they produce great sound quality too.
