Technics EAH-AZ40 – The Design

Technics EAH-AZ40 review

The Technics EAH-AZ40, are mid-price wireless earbuds. They are ergonomically designed to a comfortable fit, extremely compact, and very lightweight. Their charging case is small enough to easily slide into your pocket. In the package, you will see four different sizes of silicone ear tips: 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, and 13mm. If you find the secure and perfect fit ear tip size, the earbuds will stay comfortable even though worn for hours. The completely fit ear tips will increase efficiency by blocking outside noise as well, which is the Technics EAH-AZ40 comes with good passive noise isolation.

The materials of both case and earbuds are not plastic, there is also metal in it that feel looks and feels luxurious. The charging case is capsule-shaped and weighs only 30g. The earbuds look deluxe as well. There is the label “Technics” printed predominantly on the back of the ิีbuds.

The hinge looks quite fragile, I’m don’t sure how durable if dropped on a hard floor. This is a common problem with many wireless earbuds with a charging case. The charging case is weight so when it dropped to a hard floor like concrete, there will be a strong impact and can damage the case. But I once dropped my headphones on the concrete. But without any problems, the headphones still work normally.

When it comes to water-resistant, the Technic is sure to let you know just only earbuds had rated IPX4 waterproof, the case is not. Hence; if you would like to do outdoor exercise, please check the weather before. Because the Technics EAH-AZ40 wireless earbuds might not withstand heavy rain.

Smart Touch Sensor

Tap controls are easily functional and intuitive. The touch control area has a different surface from the rest of the earbuds that let you can confidently touch it. The default touch scheme is easy to understand and remember. However; if you feel it does not make sense, you can also adjust the majority of setting via the Technics Audio Connect app.

Battery Life

Technics EAH-AZ40 wireless earbuds

As per the Technics EAH-AZ40 specification, these wireless earbuds provide 7.5 hours on earbuds continuously and last up to 25 hours when including the charging case. Whether it’s true or not, I find it lasts impressively playtime. I listen to music for 2-3 hours a day. longer than a week until it’s time to add power to the charging case. I’m quite impressed with the battery life of these EAH-AZ40 wireless earbuds.

Bluetooth 5.2 and Codecs Supported

It doesn’t support LDAC like a new model, the Technics EAH-AZ60M2. The Technics EAH-AZ40 is only compatible with SBC and AAC codecs. You can choose which one via the Technics Audio Connect app. Generally, Android users will choose SBC for the sake of consistent quality. Nowadays, Andriod has developed so far that it has barely perceptible latency and gives a good experience for watching YouTube. But iOS users should choose AAC for a great experience.

Another good thing is the EAH-AZ40 supports the multi-point connection. You can connect two devices at the same time and easy to switch between them. Not just an easy switch, it is also automatic. For example; when you listen to music on your laptop and a call comes in on your mobile phone, the earbuds will automatically receive a call when you pick up the mobile phone. Once you end the call, it will automatically switch back. Wow! That is very impressive.

Technics EAH-AZ40 Review – The Sound Quality

Where to buy Technics EAH-AZ40 wireless earbuds

The Technics EAH AZ40 provides very good sound quality, even though not as good as Beoplay Ex or Sony WF-1000XM3. They also pack a punch with sound quality coupled with absolutely great value. The default sound signature is well-balanced for all of the lows, mids, and highs. However; if you don’t like the default sound EQ, you can choose other EQ presets ( four EQ presets) or make your own, these can do in the Technics Audio Connect app. Besides customizing sound settings and choosing EQ press via the app, you can also find updates, choose your audio codec, and customize touch controls. Moreover; the Technics Audio Connect app allows you preferred voice assistant: Amazon Alexa or your smartphone’s native one.

The sound is a matter of feeling so I can’t tell how the sound is good, but I listened and felt Its sound is so clear and crisp it offers a great listening experience well exceed its $150 price tag, so much so that I would like to say, the Technics EAH-AZ40 is the best wireless earbuds under $150. Besides, sometimes they are also big price reductions.

All in all, the Technics EAH-AZ40 delivers exceptional sound quality and exceeds this price tag.

Many people ask about how good the passive noise isolate on the Technics EAH-AZ40

If you choose the size of ear tips that perfectly fit your ears, over 400Hz is quite blocking. For high-frequency sound, the Technics EAH-AZ40 is excellent reduce the volume of the noises but the lows noise (low frequency) are still can reach your ears. This is normal for wireless in-ear without ANC. So, I highly recommend choosing the best-fit ear tips in order to best sound quality and good bass too.
