SteelSeries Arctis Pro Review: These SteelSeries Headsets are designed for gaming. If you use it for playing games it offers great sound quality. It is very good to distinguish the direction of the near-far position. But for listening to music, it might not good as other wireless headphones made for listening to music.
When it comes to the transmission box or control box, which supports a variety of connections. And also offer a good signal of up to 10 meters.
SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless
Hi-Res, 40 kHz output, Surround sound: DTS Headphones X V2.0, 2 battery (2 x 10 hours), Dual Wireless: Lossless 2.4G + Bluetooth 4.1
Today we have a review of the top headphones from SteelSeries. It is the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless, of course, that comes with the word “wireless”, it must be wireless headphones of course. The Arctis Pro is the top model from SteelSeries as well. At this price tag, if you want specs and features like this, such as wireless, support for multi-device connections, and great sound quality, there are only a few options in the market. One of them is the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless. For deep details, how will it be? Let’s go see the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless review.
The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless has a similar design as the previous model, the SteelSeries Arctis 7. There is a little different tracery on the headband, but both have a similar shape design. The headband looks like strap ski google. The strap’s material is a stretch fabric and adjustable length and locks with a hook and loop. These best gaming headsets come with all matte black bodies and are quite heavy when compared with other gaming headphones. That’s may because they have a lot more functionality.
The headband uses aluminum material, which helps the headsets have more robust. The back of the earcups is matt black plastic material with and soft touch. On the outside of earcups, there is no tracery. On the right earcup is a location of a removable battery. Easily to change the battery with the magnet lid that simply opens – close.
The assembly work is neat and solid, that’s regular for SteelSeries headphones. The overall design is the same as the Arctis Pro. But one thing superior is the wireless features which cuts off the RGB light to save power.
We are talking about headphones controllers. On the left cups, there is a microphone on/off button. When the mute mic, the end of the microphone stem will have a red light turn on. Next, is the volume physical control button. Next, is a dedicated audio slot for SteelSeries, AUX 3.5mm slot (analog audio input), and a micro USB (for charging). The last on the left side is the microphone stem that is pullable in/out and the stem can be bent or repositioned.
Next, on the right cups, is the wireless section controlling, there are two LED status lights, a power button, and a Bluetooth control button. To connect, just press and hold the Bluetooth button till the blue light flashes rapidly. After the connection finish, press down once gently this button is for an answer or to hang up the call.
The earcup is made from fine fabric. It makes a comfortability feeling when wearing and feels, unlike velvet. The pad is soft and big enough to fit comfortably in your ears and does not fatigue your ear when wearing them for hours. Most importantly, it does not itch and is not so hot. If compared to the earpad made from leather, it feels much less hot.
Unfortaneously, these wireless gaming headsets do not have ANC features. But it is an over-ear fit and the fabric earcup, which can block outside noise reasonably well. However; when you wear them and turn on the music, hardly heard outside noise. For the noise-isolate, the Arctis Pro Wireless does the job moderate score.
One thing that I would like to tell, is for who those have large head sizes like my friends, may have a slight headache when wearing them for a long time.
When it comes to battery life, SteelSeries provides two bundles of batteries. Each one can be used for 10 hours. Allowing you to switch the battery and don’t have to wait for charging, is very convenient.
The control box that comes together, has a square shape box around 2 external HDDs stacked on the top. It is made from plastic. There is a non-slip rubber at the bottom and you will see the SteelSeries logo on the top of the control box. While the front is equipped with volume controls, function keys, and an OLED display.
The right side of the control box has a slot for charging the battery. All the connectivity is located on the back (Line in 3.5mm, Line out 3.5mm, power supply, mini USB, optical in/out). Overall the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless supports a variety of connections such as PC, PS4, home theater, music players, and more. This control box acts as a mixer.
The control box work like DAC / Amp on the SteelSeries Arctis Pro + DAC, but additionally the wireless capabilities. So it performs a similar function, the difference is the wireless, Bluetooth, including the additional battery charger.
The headphones support wireless connection on the 2.4 GHz frequency, Bluetooth 4.1, and wired. Which allows the headphones to support multiple inputs at the same time. For example, a 2.4 GHz wireless connection to your laptop and Bluetooth connected to your Smartphone. So, you can answer the call immediately when calling in. Fantastic and supremely convenient.
I found that the 2.4G wireless is excellent, with no delay lag or interference. The sound quality is clearly not different to use wired. The work distance is quite far, about 10 meters. I wear it and listen to music while walking around the house. The result is the signal is still strong and clear without any interruption.
Connection via Bluetooth to Smartphone is as good as other Bluetooth headphones. So, the signal quality is the same as with regular Bluetooth headsets.
In terms of sound quality, it’s upgraded to another level from the SteelSeries Arctis 7. Due to wider frequency response and support DTS X headphones 2.0 for audio. Because it’s an open-ear design, the sound dimension has a better distance than the closed-ear design. But the bass is not as strong as it should be. At first listening, I feel that the bass is not as deep and strong as other headphones.
For listening to music, is flat sound as SteelSeries style, similar to the iPhone headphones. But one step ahead in terms of sound dimension and sound details.
The sound dimension is a highlight of the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless Headsets, it is very well done. It separates each sound of an instrument obviously.
All in all the sound quality for music, the wireless gaming headphones offer soft sound, not hardcore. Also, good sound details are excellent for listening to all kinds of music. However; except for the hard rock style, the bass is not deep and not enough strong for hard-rock lovers.
The Arctis Pro Wireless is produced as a gaming headset and it does a great job. It does a good job for distinguish the directions of the sound source. For example; foot sound or explosion sound, done as realistic as we are in the game. The sound dimension is very well done. It was estimated that if the sound came from behind, we could immediately know that it was from behind. Or the front left, we can feel that the sound was actually coming from that way.
The DTX X Headphones 2.0 is simulated from the surround sound 7.1, the result depends on each game. Some games are not different even if turn on this feature. But in some games, you will immediately feel the different sounds after using this feature. But the DTX X Headphones 2.0 is not ideal for listening to music. It will make some echo sounds and harder to listen to music.
After the burn-in, it was found that the bass was much warmer. The overall sound is better than the first listening because the sound is so simple. But after the burn-in, the sound had become quite acceptable too.
The Microphone that comes with the SteelSeries Acrtis Pro Wireless is a stem attached to the headsets. You can pull it for use. The mic’s stem is flexible and bendable. So, it is easy to bend to the desired degree. ClearCast microphone delivers studio-quality voice clarity and background noise cancellation.
