Razer BlackShark V2 Review – 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset

The Razer BlackShark V2 gaming headset is a wired-only model with the same look and feels as the Razer V2 X, but they come with tons of customization features. Unlike the Black Shark V2 X, their boom microphone is removable. The headsets come with a USB sound card as well as access to Razer’s Synapse 3 software, so you can personalize their sound and adjust the mic settings. Razer BlackShark V2 Review – Design and Comfort

The Black Shark V2 gaming headset has the same oval-styled ear cup design as the V2 X. They are made of plastic with neon green accents as well as a neon green Razer logo on every cup. The earpads are soft and cozy memory foam covered in breathable fabric, with matching covered padding on the underside of the headband. The BlackShark V2 headsets have a decent build quality. They are mostly made of plastic, except for the non-detachable cable, braided. The metal hinges as well as the wire between the ear cups and the headband are the weakest part of these headsets. These parts look like they’d bend or break if you are not careful.

Their headbands feel very comfortable than the V2 X.  The Black Shark V2 is a stable gaming headset. They are lightweight and do not move around too much on your head. Though their wire is not removable, so if it gets hooked or stuck on something, it’d easily pull the headset off your head.

How Quality of the Sound that Razer BlackShark V2 Can Do?

The RAZER V2 headset has a finely neutral sound profile. They have a perfect mid-range performance, but their treble and bass are slightly inconsistent. They’ve an overemphasized bass, which helps add an additional book to explosions, shooting, or bass-heavy music. Depending on their position, seal, or whether you’ve thick glasses or hair, your listening experience can vary every time you use them.

These headsets have good bass accuracy. The mid and low bass is fairly even ad neutral, so the punch and thump of bass-heavy genres should be reproduced perfectly. The high bass performance is overemphasized, which can add a muddy or BOOMY quality to the audio.

Frequency response like this is also well-tailored to just about any sort of game you are into. The little de-emphasis in the mid might make the sounds of footsteps in games like FORTNITE, and Call of Duty Warfare a little quieter, but not very much that they’d be difficult to hear.

Razer BlackShark V2 Review- Mic Performance

As a typical Razer headphone, the mic on the Black Shark V2 sounds decent. Test recordings sounded clean and clear, with softness and sibilance. The microphone also did not pick up the noise of my AC when it was running, even without the noise reduction feature being turned on. In fact, I found the finest outcomes just from using the default mic settings and leaving all of the additional features in Razer Synapse off.

Note that we tested the mic with the USB sound card attached, so it might perform differently when utilized without it. You can also adjust the mic setting on the Synapse 3 software, but we don’t at this time test for this.

Gaming Performance

I played Doom and League of Legends with the Razer BlackShark V2 using THX Spatial Surround Sound via the USB sound card and Synapse. It provided an extreme sense of directional imaging, letting me know when there were opponents behind or flanking me. It did not feel quite as precise as the G Pro X’s simulated surround sound, but it still offered a benefit by warming me of the generation direction of attacks. The industrial sounds come through nicely, and the various sounds of weapons and explosions are punchy.

I also played some PUBG and FORTNITE, and the gain headset worked really well. I’d tell the general direction of distant gunfire, letting me know which side to run. Directional imaging becomes less correct as the opponent got closer, and it generally felt less precise than other wireless Razer gaming headphones, but it still worked finely, and the sound quality is good overall.
