A portable Bluetooth speaker should have a small size and IP rating that high enough to protect the speaker from water splash or rain. There are many portable Bluetooth speakers that can do that, including the Tribit StormBox Micro 2 as well, more important it comes at quite cheap. The design is small and easily portable with a built-in strap. How about the quality of this cheap portable speaker? Let’s check the detail in the Tribit StormBox Micro 2 review right now.
Tribit StormBox Micro 2 Review – The Design
Rectangular shape and rounded corner with a flat body, this is Tribit StormBox Micro 2 design. The measures roughly 1.7″ by 4.0″ by 4.0″ and its weight is only 11.2 ounces, which is slightly bigger and a bit more weight than the previous model, StormBox Micro (1.4″ x 3.9″ x 3.9″, 9.1 ounces). However; it is still quite small and lightweight. At the top is a cloth grille, which there is a mono 10 watts driver under the grille. You can pair two StormBox Micro 2 speakers for wireless stereo sound and get 20 watts of power output.
At the front, you will see the volume control and a multifunction button. You can control playback, track next/previous, call management, and voice assistant with this multifunction button. At the side of the speaker, you will see the power button, five LEDs to indicate the battery’s status, and a Bluetooth pairing button. Another side of the speaker is the location of the USB-C charging port. The Tribit StormBox Micro 2 comes with feet rubber at the bottom to prevent vibration and move around while listening to music with a loud volume level.
Besides, the design comes with a built-in elastic strap giving you convenience for portable or tied with a bike or anything. This rubber strap is astoundingly flexible and very strong as well as can be stretched to extend more than I expected.
Multifunction Control Button
The main button is placed in the middle between the “-” and “+” buttons.
Play/Pause music – Press one time
Next track – Twice press
Previous – Triple press
Activate voice assistant – Press and hole
Take a call – Press one time
Reject a call – Press and hold
To double or triple pressing, it’s easy to go wrong. So if you want to press 2 times or 3 times, you have to press carefully. Press more slowly.
Tribit StormBox Micro 2 Mini Portable Speaker – Battery Life
As per its specifications, the Tribit StormBox Micro ii offers 12 hours of playtime. From actual use, I turned on the speaker and connected it to my mobile phone via Bluetooth to listen to multiple genres of music at a volume of 55% for 5 hours continuously. The output is the StormBox Micro 2 still had 60% of the battery remaining. So what’re Tribit claims that the StormBox Micro 2 portable Bluetooth speaker can last up to 12 hours is not exaggerated at all.
Another good thing about this cheap portable speaker is it can work as an emergency power bank. With a 4700mAh /3.6V battery capacity, internal the speaker can charge out to your devices.
IP67 Waterproof & Dustproof
The Tribit StormBox Micro 2 has an IP67 rating, which means it can be against water splash and rain. But there is no rubber sheet to cover the USB-C charging port. So I’m not sure and didn’t test how about waterproof for this product.
Tribit StormBox Micro 2 Review – The Sound Quality
In terms of sound quality, the Tribit StormBox Micro 2 gives a loud sound enough for a medium room. It can not be beaten for its size and price. Loud but does not provide heavy bass. The mids and treble are not clear. The bass sound is released from the rear, not the front. This is not a good thing at all, it may cause resonance and muddle sound. The bass will additional richer if you are not strapped onto something that does cover the rear output.
The Tribit StormBox Micro 2 comes with 10 watts of output power. The overall sound quality, delivers well-balanced lows, mids, and highs. To make the sound more stereo and realistic, you can connect two speakers together. This is party mode, which allows you to spread out to cover more ground and get a total of 20 watts of power output. In the party mode, one is left chanal and the other to the right, which produces a more dimensional sound experience. But keep in mind that the party mode supports the same model of StormBox Micro 2. You can’t pair StormBox Micro and Micro 2.
If you unnecessary to listen to the high-end audio or feel each instrument very clearly, just enjoy with listen to many genres of music, buy the Tribit StormBox Micro 2 will not disappoint you. I do not recommend using the max volume, it will produce murky sound quality. But if the sound quality of a portable speaker is your focus, you should look over this product and try looking for other speakers something like Monster Blaster 3.0 or JBL Flip 5. But both of them are more expensive than StormBox Micro 2 as well.

Tribit StormBox Micro II Review – How useful is the app?
The StormBox Micro 2 supports the Tribit app, which is somewhat quite useful. The good point is, the app allows you to customize your own sound, and access firmware updates. Moreover; you can also set automatic shutdown and sleep preferences. But for some might be annoying because before you can access the various options setting via the app, it requires you to create a new account and put your email address so can use many features in the app.

Before ending the Tribit StormBox Micro 2 review, I would like to say that this mini portable speaker is worth for value. it’s lightweight and mini size including IP67 waterproof. The design is great for portable with a rubber strap. With 10 watts of output power give enough loudness for a medium room size. The sound quality is not so good but not too bad.
