Anker is an electronic brand that you can reliably trust; they come with good quality and are affordable, which makes them one of the most popular brands. The Soundcore by Anker produces several wireless Bluetooth over-ear headphones and wireless earbuds, which are mostly on Amazon’s best-selling list. The latest active noise-canceling headphones, Soundcore by Anker Q20i, were just released in April 2023. It’s been talked about a lot, has great sound, is comfortable, and it’s worth the price. In this Anker Q20i review, I will show you the quality, advantages, and disadvantages of this item.

Anker Q20i Review – The Design

Anker Q20i review

It is available in only black. The overall design looks very similar to predecessors like the Q20 and Q20+ models. But some subtleties are not the same. For example, the back of the earcups has distinct carved patterns. But that’s just a small matter.

Inside the earcups, you will see the label “L” for the left ear and “R” for the right. This lets you not confuse the left or right earcup and lets you wear it correctly.

The earcups are padded with soft memory protein. The Q20i’s headband is designed to be adjustable to fit all head sizes and is compatible with all head shapes.

The Control Buttons

The control buttons are located on the right earcups, including the charging port and aux port as well. These control buttons are very intuitive and easy to use. Take some time (maybe one or two days) to become familiar with these buttons. After that, you don’t need to look at them to know what you are pressing.

Fit and Comfortable

The Anker Q20i wireless over-ear headphones are very comfortable; you can even wear them for hours. It fits my ear without issues; there is no soreness or fatigue around the ears. However, there is one thing that you should know: the Anker Q20i is over-ear and may give you a warm sensation around your ears if you wear it for more than 3 hours continuously. Especially if you live in a pretty hot environment or terrain, such as countries in Southeast Asia or countries along the equator, because these headphones are perfectly fit and completely cover the ears, it’s good noise isolation even if you don’t turn ANC on.

Anker Soundcore Q20i Review – Battery Life

Soundcore by Anker Q20i - Solid battery wireless over-ear headphones

According to its specs, the Anker Q20i offers 40 hours with ANC on and up to 60 hours with ANC off. There is nothing changed from the Q20 or Q20+ models. But the Q20i comes with an exquisitely fast charge; just plug in for 5 minutes and you will get an extra 4 hours of playtime.

However, the amount of playtime depends on the volume level and turning ANC.

Bluetooth 5.0

Soundcore by Anker Q20i review

They come with Bluetooth 5.0 and can connect to two devices at the same time and also seamlessly switch between them. I connect the Q20i to my laptop for listening to music, and meanwhile, I connect it to my smartphone. It can quickly switch to my telephone to take a call. The Bluetooth range is around 10 meters, even with some obstacles.

Anker Q20i Wireless Over-Ear Headphones – The Call Quality

Where to buy Anker Soundcore Q20i headphones

These wireless over-ear headphones have built-in two internal and two external microphones. They work in tandem to detect outside noise and greatly reduce these noises. The company claims that the Anker Q20i can reduce up to 90% of external noise. I can’t gauge how accurate it is. But I can feel that it greatly reduces noise, such as planes and traffic on the road, while I’m talking to my friend via phone.

Besides, it is still great for Zoom or Teams calls as well.

Soundcore by Anker Q20i Hybrid ANC Wireless Headphones – The Sound QualityAnker Soundcore Q20i Review

Of course, the Soundcore by Anker Q20i headphones are not the best sounding. But they provide fantastic sound quality in this price range for wireless over-ear headphones. I’m not an audiophile, and these headsets are not great for audiophiles as well. We can’t compare it to high-expensive headphones like the Sony WH-1000MX5 or Bose 700. But the Anker Q20i still delivers good sound quality. The bass is enough. The highs feel shiny but clean and not sibilant. The mids are not outstanding and are pretty clean. The overall sound tone is correct, soft, and beautiful.

Besides, the Q20i headphones still have ANC and transparency modes. It is better than what you typically get at this price. Turning on ANC can block outside noise very well, all of low, mid, and high frequencies. Although it can’t block all the noise, it’s mostly quiet, and I’m very satisfied with the price.

Additionally, if you are not pleased with the default sound, you can adjust or choose EQ presets for the companion app too. Yes, the Anker Q20i also supports the Soundcore app. You can tailor your sound or customize EQ, including the 22 presets that you can choose.

Unfortunately, these Anker Soundcore headphones don’t support high-end codecs like LDAC, aptX-HD, or aptX-LL. For the wireless headphones that support these, such as the Anker Soundcore Space One or Anker Soundcore Space Q45, both are a little more expensive than the Q20i.
